Le Hangar Y accueille sur les mezzanines, jusqu'au 10 septembre, l'exposition inaugurale "Dans l'air, les machines volantes" qui rend hommage à la fonction première du lieu. Dans ce cadre, "Kitfox experimental"(l'avion jaune), est une installation de Roman Signer qui relate un moment de frayeur alors que l'artiste était enfant lorsqu'un pilote a fait descendre son avion en piqué.
L’installation de l’artiste coréenne Lee Bul, intitulée "Willing To Be Vulnerable", en forme de dirigeable, sera par contre une installation perenne, hommage à la vocation première du lieu.
Une expérience immersive de 30 minutes (avec supplément !) en réalité mixte "L’Epopée du Hangar Y" transporte le visiteur au cœur du 19ème siècle et de l’essor de l’aéronautique.
