We all have our preferences for when to use one or the other. Most use the liquid one for a quick handwash and a bar of soap for baths and showers.

I hate it when staying in a hotel not to be given solid soap for my shower and really dislike when the handwash is the only thing available. We generally end up taking our own soaps or hand washes with us!

workshops - how to do the hand washing

15th October 2020:

The weather has been pretty miserable all day and I didn't really feel like taking a photo, but it seemed a bit silly not to. So I took the last of the Abelia sp flowers. They're the last bit of colour left in our garden.

The few dandelions and daisies were strimmed up the day before yesterday when the gardening team came through.

I think we've all been doing that more than usual over the last year. ☹️

15th October 2021 :

What you do when you don't feel like going out for a walk, but haven't taken a photo for today. Simple, let Izzy out into the garden, when she asked to go out and point the camera up at the sky.

Thank goodness we haven't got that many days left.

The theme for "Looking Close on Friday" for the 18th of August is "soap foam". Even before the advent of the Coronavirus pandemic, I was always a fastidious handwasher: something drilled into my daily routine by my grandparents when I was child. Therefore, to whip up some delicate foam from my current bar of lily-of-the-valley hand soap was a pleasure to do for the sake of the theme! I hope you like my choice for this week’s theme, and that it makes you smile.

As lockdown starts to ease in the UK please stay alert out there. Masks, social distance, handwashing and good ventilation are key to keeping transmission rates down. Positive cases have stagnated and in some areas are rising again since the return of children to school so please be careful as things open up. Stay safe my friends!

Today's image is a macro photograph of my trusty 'Swiss Army Lock Pen Knife', it has a red handle and really so useful .... need to peel an Apple when out walking?

Well it's just the job with the main blade locking there is little chance of the blade folding back and cutting oneself.

The hand in the photograph wasn't real of course... it's a plastic hand attached to a old small back scratcher I found knocking around in my shed.

This is my macro image entry for Macro Mondays this week .... 25-05-2020 topic .... Handle ....

I do hope it's liked ....

Cheers .... Sean.

with the loosening restrictions in some places,

how many people will remember their masks?

will stay home? work from home? do distance learning?

keep the 6 feet (2 meters) social distancing?

wash their hands for the full 20 seconds?

are we tired of all the rules?

or will we keep them up to keep others safe?

Macro Mondays theme of the Four Elements: Earth, Water, Air and Fire.

A 1" piece of slate sitting in a plate of "water" (blue handwash) with a small piece of sparkler burning. Air all around...

THis colourful scarf was made by the technique called nuno felting, which is a type of wet felting. Soap, hot water, and agitation bind the fibers together. I used a 100% silk chiffon as a base and decorated with 100% merino wool and silk fibres.

The scarf measures approximately 10 x 44" (25cms x 120 cms).

THis is a size of scarf to wear comfortably even in the summer with your light summer cloths.

I used extra fine 18 microns wool, so it is soft and not itchy.

Please, handwash in cool water and gentle soap. You may press gently and rinse in cold water. Do not place in washing machine.Dry flat or hang from center and pull to shape.
