This Rustic Handle has been taken for this weeks Macro Mondays theme of 'Handle'. It is from an outside log burner and burns nicely on chilly evenings in our garden. HMM

On vacation... sorry for little comments from me...

The last of the wildflowers blooming in the La Crosse River Marsh. Many asters can even handle the first frosts but, eventually, they fade away in October and November.

North Carr is the last remaining Scottish lightship, Dundee, UK.

She was built by A. & J. Inglis Ltd, (part of Harland and Wolff) at Pointhouse Shipyard, Glasgow in 1932.

She was purchased from a scrapyard in 2010 for £1 and funds were sought to restore her as an exhibition space on the Dundee waterfront. However, due to a lack of funding, the lightship is yet to receive the new lick of paint or restoration she needs.

With the loss of my cat this week, I've kept her toys and put them into storage along with a few other things. The blue mouse on an elastic string with handle, she used to run around after for hours (more so when she was younger) and it squeaks.

A local cat charity had some of the other things, food and cat litter and some unused scratching poles and toys she never played with.

Given an HDR treatment.

This is possibly the tiniest button in my collection at just 1cm wide (about ⅜"). The centre is pink guilloché enamel and the button itself is made of silver. It dates back to the 1900s. The tin thimble is from the 1920s and the pink cotton from the 1930s. I'm sure the 2 buttons in the background will be making an appearance in their own right before long. :)

The holly is so prickly it hurts! And our holly has no berries, so I paired it with some redcurrants, which I've been making into redcurrant sauce - I don't like cranberries as much 😊

Vintage penknife/pocketknife that has found itself in my possession from I know not where or when. The texture of the carved horn handle was my objective and only on examining it closely realised the existence of the stag's head motif. Made in Germany I would guess early C20th.

Cropped to show only 3" of the handle.
