Fort Greene Park features one of my two favorite sounds that remind me of being a kid in the summer--the thwap-ing of tennis balls being hit on a row of courts. (My other favorite summer sound is that of a lawnmower, which you don't get to hear in New York City. But when I do ever hear it, I instantly think of the faint smell of chlorine in still-wet hair, and of hot dogs on the grill. And I don't care if hot dogs are made from lips and toes and pieces-parts.)
