The Port of Hamburg located on the river Elbe some 110km from the mouth of the river into the North Sea is Germany's largest port and is named the country's "Gateway to the World".

In terms of TEU throughput, Port of Hamburg is the second-busiest port in Europe (after the port of Rotterdam) and 15th-largest worldwide. In 2014, 9.73 million TEUs [4] (20-foot standard container equivalents) were handled in Hamburg.

The harbour covers an area of 73.99 km² (64.80 km² usable), of which 43.31 km² (34.12 km²) are land areas. The location is naturally advantaged by a branching Elbe, creating an ideal place for a port complex with warehousing and trans shipment facilities.

This one was shot at the Hamburg Blueport Days on a very cloudy night. Most parts of the Hamburg Port nightsky adopted a mixed colour of a blue, red yellow and purple which looked very stunning. It's the "Dockland" building by Hadi Teherani.

One viewpoint in Hamburg port area with a rich variety of trains coming through is also one of the loudest points in Hamburg. Standing on footbridge Zellmannstraße next to motorway A7 and above a very highly frequented street we see EVB 0273 007 with a long queue of containers moving from Burchardkai terminal and Mühlenwerder southwards. It was very big luck to have nearly no lorry on the streets around the train.
