On our recent trip to Vietnam, located in the Quang Ninh province of Vietnam is Halong Bay. This bay is famous for its more than 1960 limestone, rocky, tall islands that are rich in tropical vegetation.
Halong Bay means 'descending dragon bay'. Legend states that gods sent dragons, who dropped jewels and jade from their mouths into the bay, creating the islands.
Halong Bay is approximately 579 square miles in size and is home to approximately 1600 fishermen who live in floating villages. The rich bio-diversity of the bay, and its beauty, and its history has captured the interest of many throughout the ages. It is classified as both a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, and as one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature.
Long Bay, in northeast Vietnam, is known for its emerald waters and thousands of towering limestone islands topped by rainforests. Junk boat tours and sea kayak expeditions take visitors past islands named for their shapes, including Stone Dog and Teapot islets.
The region is popular for scuba diving, rock climbing, and hiking, particularly in the mountainous Cát Bà National Park.
Hạ Long Bay is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and popular travel destination in Quảng Ninh Province, Vietnam. The name Hạ Long means "descending dragon".
Hạ Long Bay has an area of around 1,553 km2 (600 sq mi), including 1,960–2,000 islets, most of which are limestone. The core of the bay has an area of 334 km2 (129 sq mi) with a high density of 775 islets. The limestone in this bay has gone through 500 million years of formation in different conditions and environments. The evolution of the karst in this bay has taken 20 million years under the impact of the tropical wet climate. The geo-diversity of the environment in the area has created biodiversity, including a tropical evergreen biosystem, oceanic and sea shore biosystem.
There's not much to say about this one. Silence will describe it better.

Visitar en barco la Bahia de Halong es como transportarse al romanticismo de finales del XIX, a las películas de Salgari o los viajes a los mares de China.
Of course, no trip to Vietnam would be complete without going to Halong Bay. One of the world natural wonders. These limestone formation sticking out of the water are known as kursts, and they are over 2000 of them.
One of the highlights of our trip on the bay was a sunset showing of the movie "Indochine" on the deck of the cruise boat we were on, and many scenes taking place in Halong Bay. It felt like we were part of the movie. Can you spot the boat?
This is a seven image handheld pano stitched together in Ps, as I believe that only a pano can capture the beauty of this place.
