This is the beak of my rooster, HalfnHalf. I didn't have to kill him to get the shot, so he is definitely alive! One would think he would not be amenable to having his portrait up close and live but the reality was he was easier to manage and photograph than any of the hens were. Probably a narcissist ......
colors directly opposite each other in the color spectrum, such as red and green or blue and orange, that when combined in the right proportions, produce white light.

This image was taken in South Coyote Buttes in a spot often called "Half and Half." I was returning to my truck after photographing a brilliant sunset that evening (those photos will come later). It was dark enough that I had to turn on my headlight. When I passed half and half, I decided to take one more shot in the blue hour. Interestingly enough, the sky color was still visible in the wispy clouds and a few stars were shining through. This is a single-shot exposure.
I offer private trips to South Coyote Buttes if you're interested. Permits are much easier to get compared to North Coyote.
One of my favorite hens. I had fun playing around with the photo and took out the very cluttered background, so hopefully this looks more like a portrait, instead of a chicken in front of all the goodies I feed! Blackie is a Blue Orpington hen that I raised from the time she was one day old. She spent the first few weeks inside my house and so is very friendly. One of my roosters (HalfnHalf) is her brother and I also still have her full sister Big Mama. OK.... so most of my chickens don't have actual names but these three are special! :) For one thing, they survived the attack of the weasel that killed two of their siblings! Hoping everyone is having a great day!
...like the half packed boxes, the cat hair all over my futon, the unpaid bills scattered on the table, my shit eating grin, the kitty on my lap, my crooked little end table, and the list goes on...but i suspect you can see that it is dark and rainy outside. it's a perfect day to take a short walk to Pie in the Sky, get myself some sweets and then scurry back home to cozy up with the kitty!

I had been craving for kheer since past couple of weeks. Finally I stirred my lazy bones and made some, turned out lipsmackingly delicious :)

everyone has seen stuff like this. was bored and had nothing to do tonight, so i gave it a go. one blueberry wasn't interesting enough, so after 6 or 7 of one berry being dropped.. i went for 3 or 4. i like the result!
about the shot: spoon is taped down onto a table. it's actually not milk in the spoon. it's half n half - half creamer/ half milk. it gives it better definition because it's thicker. tripod about a foot and a half from the shot. used a 50mm f/1.8 for the lens.
strobist: smith victor strobe into large octobox high to the right of subject. vagabond 2 for the power.

-Homemade stuffed crust pizza with a garlic alfredo white sauce, artichoke hearts, black olives, tomatoes, zucchini, red onion, mushrooms, mozzarella and pepperoni on half. Pain in the butt to homemake but so good.

Garlic Alfredo Sauce recipe:
2 tablespoon butter
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1/2 cup halfnhalf
1/4 cup shredded parmesan
Cook butter and garlic on medium heat until garlic is lightly browned, remove garlic. Add halfnhalf and parmesan and stir until melted in. Salt and pepper to taste.
