Sutton House is a National Trust property in Hackney. That would be unusual enough but it’s a Grade II listed Tudor manor house in Hackney. Despite its misleading Georgian frontage, this 16th-century home has nearly 500 years of history. A rare example of a Tudor red-brick house, it was built by a courtier of Henry VIII. It has been home to a succession of merchants, Huguenot silk weavers, Victorian schoolmistresses, Edwardian clergy and 1980s squatters, plus headquarters for a 20th-century trade union.

A comment on the gentrification of Hackney? I'm not sure.

Its full of beautiful trees, and people, and dogs with people, and kids, and birds and butterflies and deer and goats and roses and .....

It is a source of London sanity. It is our temple.

Netil House, Bocking Street, Hackney

Block of flats by the Regent's Canal in Hackney (on the boundary with Tower Hamlets). Originally built as social housing by London County Council in 1958.

For the avoidance of doubt, this is not in Hackney; it's in Tower Hamlets. It is however on Hackney Road, so we'll let it pass.

Must press 'L' to really appreciate it.
