The Workhouse was renamed Hackney Institute in the 1930s, under the NHS it became Hackney Hostpital and it is now a medium secure forensic psychiatric hospital called the John Howard Centre. www.workhouses.org.uk/Hackney/

New Overground footbridge, opened 23rd July 2015, between Hackney Downs and Hackney Central

This is the home built by my great-great uncle William Hackney in Winfield, Kansas. Hackney was a frontier lawyer and politician, always where the action was. He also served as a state senator. It is currently owned by an antique dealer who keeps the home in excellent condition.
