Shan Ha Wai, Hakka walled village, also known as Tsang Tai Uk, Sha Tin, New Territories, Hong Kong. Construction started 1847, completed ca. 20 years later.
A late lunch - which we decided was probably a 'tunch' (tea + lunch) - at Ha Ha's. Ha Ha's being somewhere we were all willing to eat.
My companion here is wearing one of those masks they give to witnesses and the accused in high-profile trials at the Old Bailey. No idea where he got it from.

Since we organized the dance, we felt okay taking the stage for a song or two (the big one were Kung Fu Fighting and YMCA).
It was quite stormy when we stayed there, so i had to make the best of a bad situation photo wise and use the seamless cloud cover to complement my shots, this one and the one next to it worked out ok.
We took a day-long tour around Cat Ba Island/Ha Long Bay. This place is ridiculously photogenic. Let me assure my friends, yes, this is still Earth, and yes, it is real. Somehow.
Along the way the guides took us to one of the floating home/floating fish farms. They live in little shacks on the water and keep fish in nets lowered in the water. The guides said there's over 2000 people living this way in the area. Other than being on the water, it looks like any other low-wage village around here, complete with dogs corner stores, etc.
Oh, and it turns out this is the time of year to come! Weather was great and the place was not busy. We had the entire boat to ourselves!
