Dreaming of Better Days in the Future and Thinking of Fond Memories from the Past.
Ha Long Bay is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and popular travel destination in Vietnam. The name Ha Long means "descending dragon".
The Bay, is known for its emerald waters and thousands of towering limestone islands topped by rain-forests. Junk boat tours and sea kayak expeditions take visitors past islands named for their shapes, including Stone Dog and Teapot islets.
Historical research surveys have shown the presence of prehistoric human beings in this area tens of thousands of years ago.

Le parc provincial du Mont-Carleton est situé dans le comté de Restigouche, au nord de la province canadienne du Nouveau-Brunswick.

2 de los centenares de barcos llenos de turistas que recorren la bahía de Ha Long y que por desgracia están destrozando esta maravilla declarada patrimonio de la humanidad. Hace mucho tiempo que se comenta que van a restringir la zona a una cantidad muy inferior de barcos pero supongo que siendo la mayor fuente de ingresos por turismo debe ser muy complicado. Como en otros muchos lugares del mundo aquí también encuentras toneladas de plástico flotando en el agua.
2 of the hundreds of boats full of tourists that travel through Ha Long Bay and that unfortunately are destroying this wonder declared a World Heritage Site. It has been said for a long time that they are going to restrict the area to a much smaller number of boats, but I suppose that being the largest source of income from tourism, it must be very complicated. As in many other places in the world, here you also find tons of plastic floating in the water.

Fa molt de temps que es comenta que restringiran la zona a una quantitat molt inferior de vaixells però suposo que sent la major font d'ingressos per turisme ha de ser molt complicat. Com en molts altres llocs del món aquí també trobes tones de plàstic flotant a l'aigua.
El Ha'penny Bridge (literalmente, Puente del Medio Penique) es un puente peatonal construido en 1816 sobre el río Liffey, en Dublín (Irlanda). En origen se llamó "Wellington Bridge" (en honor a Arthur Wellesley, primer Duque de Wellington), pero acabó obteniendo su nombre actual de dos hechos. Su forma, similar al canto de una moneda de medio penique y el peaje, que en un principio bastante antiguo era de esa cantidad (y posteriormente de un penique entero). Este peaje dejó de cobrarse en 1919.

India Day 0 - Dublin and Travel
We have an afternoon in Dublin before flying to India the following day. This is one of the sights, the Ha'penny Bridge reflected in the waters of the River Liffey.
The Ha’penny Bridge is the best known of Dublin’s bridges. It was built in 1816 and was the first iron bridge in Ireland. It is a single span structure with cast iron railings and decorative lamps. It was originally named the Liffey Bridge but is now called the Ha’penny because until 1919 to cross it there was a half-penny charge.
Accepted as the symbol of Dublin, the Ha’penny Bridge (officially Wellington Bridge after the ‘Iron Duke’) was opened in 1816. Cast at Coalbrookdale in Shropshire in England, the bridge acquired its unofficial moniker from the toll paid to cross the river – one old half penny. The bridge was the only pedestrian bridge on the Liffey until the Millennium bridge further up was opened in 2000.

Made of cast iron, the bridge was cast in Shropshire, England. Originally called the Wellington Bridge (after the Dublin-born Duke of Wellington), the name of the bridge changed to Liffey Bridge. The Liffey Bridge (Irish: Droichead na Life)[1] remains the bridge's official name to this day, although it is most commonly referred to as the Ha'penny Bridge.
Die Ha’penny Bridge (oder Half Penny Bridge, offiziell Liffey Bridge) ist eine 43 m lange, knapp 3,7 m breite Fußgängerbrücke aus dem Jahr 1816, die im Zentrum der irischen Hauptstadt Dublin den Fluss Liffey überspannt und dabei den Stadtteil Temple Bar mit dem Bachelor´s Walk verbindet. Ihren volkstümlichen Namen erhielt sie aufgrund der früher zu entrichtenden Fußgängermaut; die offizielle, aber im Alltag kaum verwendete Bezeichnung lautet Liffey Bridge. Die Brücke ist eine der meistfotografierten Sehenswürdigkeiten Dublins und gilt vielfach als das Wahrzeichen der Stadt.

Hạ Long Bay has an area of around 1,553 km2 (600 sq mi), including 1,969 islets, most of which are limestone. The core of the bay has an area of 334 km2 (129 sq mi) with a high density of 775 islets. The limestone in this bay has gone through 500 million years of formation in different conditions and environments. The evolution of the karst in this bay has taken 20 million years under the impact of the tropical wet climate. The geo-diversity of the environment in the area has created biodiversity, including a tropical evergreen biosystem and a seashore biosystem. Hạ Long Bay is home to 14 endemic floral species and 60 endemic faunal species.

Cuenta la leyenda que el emperador de Jade pidió auxilio a una familia de dragones para protegerse contra los invasores chinos que querían adueñarse de sus territorios. Los dragones lanzaron ferozmente perlas contra el enemigo para hundir sus barcos y con la cola uno de ellos creó bellos islotes que hoy en día todavía pueden ser admirados.

La Bahía de Lan Ha y la Isla de Cat Ba
La Bahía de Lan Haes mucho menos turística que su hermana mayor, la Bahía de Halong. Más angosta, más recogida, la Bahía de Lan Ha no puede acomodar unidades grandes. Solo pequeñas embarcaciones pueden navegar en las aguas color esmeralda salpicadas de islas kársticas e islotes con formas sorprendentes y cubiertas de jungla.
El crucero da un giro más íntimo que en la Bahía de Halong. Hacer kayak con una visita a un pueblo flotante es también la actividad principal en la Bahía de Lan Ha, con la ventaja adicional de acostar en pequeñas calas aisladas para nadar y descansar.
El crucero en la Bahía de Lan Ha se combina perfectamente con el descubrimiento de la Isla de Cat Ba. Esta última es la gran isla del archipiélago homónimo que comprende 367 islas e islotes reconocidos como reserva biológica por la Unesco. Puedes caminar allí en su parque nacional caracterizado por su vegetación subtropical que alberga más de 50 especies de animales, incluida una especie rara de monos endémicos: el langur con cabeza dorada. Cat Ba también puede ser objeto de una estancia junto al mar con sus hermosas playas o una estancia más deportiva, especialmente en bicicleta o escalada.

Legend has it that the Jade Emperor asked a family of dragons for help to protect himself against Chinese invaders who wanted to take over his territories. The dragons fiercely threw pearls at the enemy to sink their ships and with their tail one of them created beautiful islets that can still be admired today.

Lan Ha Bay and Cat Ba Island
Lan Ha Bay is much less touristy than its older sister, Halong Bay. Narrower, more collected, Lan Ha Bay cannot accommodate large units. Only small boats can navigate the emerald waters dotted with karst islands and islets with surprising shapes and covered in jungle.
The cruise takes a more intimate turn than in Halong Bay. Kayaking with a visit to a floating village is also the main activity in Lan Ha Bay, with the added bonus of lying in small secluded coves for swimming and lounging.
The cruise in Lan Ha Bay is perfectly combined with the discovery of Cat Ba Island. The latter is the large island of the archipelago of the same name, which includes 367 islands and islets recognized as a biological reserve by UNESCO. You can walk there in its national park characterized by its subtropical vegetation that is home to more than 50 species of animals, including a rare species of endemic monkeys: the golden-headed langur. Cat Ba can also be the subject of a stay by the sea with its beautiful beaches or a more sporting stay, especially cycling or climbing.
