D&H 5007 and 5015 are the Belden Hill helpers that are on the head end of a Southbound freight exiting the tunnel at Tunnel, NY on March 4, 1979. We were a bit disappointed that the helpers were on the front, but 40 years later Alco's in the lead wins!
Unseen Photo Fair in Amsterdam was a wonderful experience for me. The world of photography has been more extensive than I expected. Emerging talents from all over the world amazed me by their imagination, creativity and craftsmanship; on the other hand, I felt that what photography has achieved was sometimes neglected. In other words, they don't need the realities in front of them now… Anyway, participating in Unseen made me think about what I actually want to do. It's getting more and more difficult and interesting to take/make pictures…
B&H 422 and LA&L 425 pause in the yard at Avon, NY on February 8, 2010. Been a long time since the 422 has been on the LA&L.
Huron & Eastern’s engine 103 is approaching the city of Elkton, MI during July of 1989. The reason for this westbound move was to position the train for a shippers special to be held the very next day.

I came across this shot in a box of D&H slides that I never showed, in this case due to severe underexposure. I thought that the lashup was worthy of a rescue attempt. An SD45 that was traded to the EL and then traded back stands with a gleaming GP38-2 in the Altschul Blue scheme, a C420 and an RS36, both in the lightning stripe scheme at Conrail’s Bethlehem, Pennsylvania engine terminal.
D&H 7315 in the latest blue dip paint scheme leads a Westbound that has stopped at Hornell, NY for a crew change on October 14, 1979.

Super quicky. I know its pretty bad with the lines and stuff, but I'm working on it. I just really wanted to get this out here. So I'll post the "clean up" once done, but this is the general idea.

The SU-1 helper set with a trio of U33Cs assists an an EDNW (East Deerfield - Norfolk & Western/Buffalo) under Starrucca Viaduct towards Jeff Jct where it will reverse direction and head up the Lanesboro Connection.
it is today, that I am 20.000 days on earth.
I stole the idea from Nick Cave, who made a wonderful film with exactly this title.
I can highly recommend that film from my heart, as well as "One more Time with Feeling".
Nick Caves concert should have taken place in Berlin in May 2020, and I am still very sad that it had to be cancelled.

i remember when i was away and i couldn't sleep at night. and how i got out of bed and ran down the four flights of stairs, through the halls, down the incline to the student parking, to my silver vw. fighting that cold lump forming in my throat. i remember turning on the heater and the way it made my car smell. my feet were the first to melt.
sometimes i would drive for hours. i would find myself falling asleep by the atlantic ocean. after screaming at the sea and blaming it for everything. i would play that song over again and again until it was like breathing. an involuntary movement and sound that i was no longer aware i was hearing.
its been raining all day. and i've been breathing.
