One more Bionicle GWP style build. This time, Kopaka. Heavy inspo from Sparky's version plus several others I've seen in the past few months. Thought I'd take a crack at a tile print for the mask that fits the style.
I thought the Bionicle GWP was really interesting, and I wanted to try and recreate one of my favorite childhood sets in the LEGO system bricks.
After 2 weeks of frenzied feeding by the parents the new kid has been brought to the peanut butter tree in our garden.
For TTV‘s GWP Build Style contest, which is now entering its “Vehicles and Mounts” category, I decided to recreate one of the very first Bionicle vehicle sets in the simpler GWP (or G3) style - The Boxor!

Piloted by Nuparu, the Boxor was built from deactivated Bohrok for the Matoran of Mata Nui to fight back against the Bohrok hordes.

I liked the mechanics of the original but I also wanted to update it with more articulation, so I kept the same linkage designs but with balljoints! Now the arms and feet can pivot, and the legs can splay outwards!
More pics coming soon!
Quantum H4.
Based on a donor Ford Fiesta with the year of make showing as 1997 and the engine size as 1391cc.
Registered in October 1998.
And here how I think Lego designer should have made this GWP ...
The re-work is nothing complicated, I kept it original and simple with minor modifications:
- the front ligth were awfull so i changed it with a clip, a bar handle and a rounded tile more slick
- added a front bumper attached with a bracket
- added the iconic checked pattern (1X1 plates)
It's not the best by far but it's much better in my opinion!
What's your take on it?

I really enjoy building the masks for GWP style Bionicle characters. It's a fun challenge to try and capture the mask details in such a tight space.
This Toa of light brightens my desk in the shop.

A little comparison between the original (left one) and the reworked (rigth one) is a better way to understand ;)

The back, just like the original, has a tohunga arm for its spine, and can hinge back for the cockpit top to hinge up and fit in Nuparu (or any other GWP style tohunga), which actually stays in place with a single stud on the seat, so you can actually have it look around without the top pressing on his head.
