Gullfoss making an permanent rain

Panorama made of 5 pics

An amazing day in the Icelandic Golden Circle and our first stop was the falls at Gullfoss. The largest waterfall I have seen before and truly breathtaking.

This is an extraordinary minimalist image of the massive Gullfoss Waterfalls; however, i cannot take total credit since i got assistance from the Workshop Pro who was giving me a live demo on how to use the AV and live view features of the Mark IV to provide finer adjustments to the lighting.

From all the sunrises and sunets we had our week in Iceland, this was the only one without clouds. We enjoyed this moment so much! Especially with all those fall colors.

Good to be able to access Flickr properly again

Iceland might be famous for its volcanoes I will remember it as the land of waterfalls. We saw them everywhere not huge on the scale of Niagara but a constant feature of the landscape.. This is a shot of Gullfoss perhaps the most dramatic. I have to say it was one of the hardest shots I have taken there was a gale force wind that almost blew one over. You just had time to take one shot before the camera lens was covered in spray. So not ideal to take leisurely shots just had to grab a shot and run

THANKS FOR YOUR VISIT HAVE A GREAT DAY

Part of the Golden Circle drive. Also known as Golden Falls.

Gullfoss is made up of two waterfalls. The first of them, at the highest part of the falls, has a drop of about 11 meters. After this, the water meets another even larger jump: the second Gullfoss waterfall measures 20 meters, so that the totality of both is 31 meters high.

Gullfoss means “golden waterfall”, according to legend, many years ago a farmer named Gýgur lived in the area, who over the years had accumulated an enormous amount of gold. Gýgur worried about what would happen to his gold when he died. Since he couldn't stand the idea that someone could take it away from him once he was dead, he chose to keep it in a chest and throw it into the depths of the waterfall.

Southwest Iceland

Gullfoss (Golden Waterfall) is probably the most famous waterfall in Iceland. It is located in the south-west of the country, close to the hot springs and geysers of Haukadalur. On warm summer days, up to 1,200 cubic metres of water thunder down every second.

Lots of rain + wind... and water spray from Gullfoss (Puh..)

Gullfoss is the waterfall of the river Hvítá in the south of Iceland.

It consists of two steps, 11m and 21m high.

From the second step, the water plunges into a gorge.

2.5 km long from the waterfall to the widening to the valley, depth 70 m.

Er besteht aus zwei Stufen, 11m und 21 m hoch.

Von der zweiten Stufe stürzt das Wasser in eine Schlucht.

Gullfoss (translated to 'Golden Falls') is one of Iceland's most iconic and beloved waterfalls, found in the Hvítá river canyon in Southwest Iceland.

Hey, how's it going?

Thought I'd share this quick photo I took at Gullfoss in Iceland.

Sonia and I are planning a trip back home to England/Slovakia later this year and hopefully we can squeeze in a quick visit back to Iceland while we're there.

I was so awe-struck the first time and was just enjoying being there so much that I don't feel like I got the most out of it photo-wise.

Next time we will be in full-on shooting mode I think!

Cheers

This beautiful foss is part of another one of those cleverly designed tourist traps; the golden circle.

It is very much worth while having a look, if you have your own transport.

We went to see it on a tour from Reykjavik, but unfortunately you get to spend very little time there before they move on to next site.

Did manage to get this shot though.

Gullfoss (Golden Waterfall) is an iconic waterfall of Iceland offering a spectacular view of the forces and beauty of untouched nature. Gullfoss is part of the Golden Circle tour, located in South Iceland on the Hvítá (White) river which is fed by Iceland´s second biggest glacier, the Langjökull. The water plummets down 32 meters in two stages into a rugged canyon which walls reach up to 70 meters in height.
