Upper wings of this medium sized butterfly with elongated forewings. The upper surface of the wings is bright orange with black markings. The forewing cell contains three black-rimmed white spots. These butterflies are migrating south to escape wintry weather.
Great Egret chicks probably around 5 weeks old and showing off their developing wings. These two had just been fed and Mom had left to forage for more food. Seen here on High Island, Texas. Sadly, land developers have started to crowd out breeding colonies inland from the coast.

Sunsets along Florida's Gulf Coast are consistently beautiful. The photos in this set were taken at Fort Myers Beach right outside out rented condo.
