New Brighton Lighthouse at dusk and the arrival of another ship to the River Mersey.

Isola Sant'Andrea Lighthouse was built in 1865 and consists of a white octagonal prism tower, 43 feet (13 m) high, with balcony and lantern, rising from a 2-storey white keeper's house. The lantern, painted in grey metallic, is positioned at 45 metres (148 ft) above sea level and emits two white flashes in a 10 seconds period, visible up to a distance of 19 nautical miles (35 km; 22 mi). The lighthouse is completely automated and is managed by the Marina Militare.

The nymph is much larger than one I posted on Apr 22 www.flickr.com/photos/108755156@N05/53670406878/in/datepo... . I am thinking this one today may be a 5th instar.

The master plan was created by BUSarchitektur under the guidance of the architect Laura P. Spinadel. The buildings of the campus are designed by architectural firms from Spain, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan and Austria. The dominant element of the campus is the Library & Learning Center, which was planned by Zaha Hadid.

As the rising sun high steps slowly across a hay field, a deserted dairy barn in the background sits silently and views the round hay bales that are foreign to its experience.

During my last years in high school in the early 1960s, our southwestern Minnesota community was filled with peers who were interested in farming as their fathers had done for years and before that, their grandfathers. But comparatively few went on to farm for the rest of their working days.

There were different reasons for this but the changing farming economy probably the main one as small family farms soon became unable to support a young married couple and their children.

But there were other reasons as well. Our small high school initiated a guidance counselor position in my junior year, a football coach who was unfamiliar with a changing world.

However unwittingly, my father had a built-in career guidance program that consisted of baling heavy bales in the peak of Minnesota's heat and humidity. After my older brothers left the farm and I became the chief hay-rack engineer, I quickly set my sight on doing something other than farming. If only we had round bales back then...

Wow, thanks to Patrick who sent me a link to a proposal where they want to put a version of this statue one inch shorter than the Statue of Liberty on Treasure Island in the San Francisco Bay.

The Tiritiri Matangi Island Lighthouse under our Milky Way.

This lighthouse used to be one of the brightest in the world, with it's light reaching up to 58 nautical miles! Has since been reduced as it was a annoyance to fellow North Shore people, lighting up their bedrooms at night every 15 seconds. She now shines out up to 21 nautical miles to sea.

Old lighthouse in French Brittany on a super stormy morning. I can't believe I was able to get a long exposure with such winds. Barely could stand up but Really Right Stuff tripods are super stable :)

The bathing in Bjarred is a natural meeting place for the resort.

Already in 1901 erected the original swimming and leisure facility with open-air bath, walk the park, beach hotels and elegant restaurants. Today there are long bridge, about 500 long and cold-water baths at the end. Popular playground in the area.

The beach at Long Jetty, this year the Blue Flag. It is the first time that Lomma Municipality received this award for a beach.

Blue Flag is an international environmental award for sustainable development at beaches. It also provides support and guidance to enhance the quality of a bathing on water quality, care and maintenance, environmental education and safety.

Guidance, Protection, Loyalty

"The dog brings guidance and protection, acts as a friend and a loyal companion on your journey in this and the next life. In the Druid tradition the dog is seen as the Guardian of Mysteries. In this regard, it can also be ferocious, but if our intentions are good, Cù will let us cross the threshold of the darkness and the waters of the unconscious towards the shining Kingdom of the Goddess."

Children have to be educated, but they have also to be left to educate themselves. ~Abbé Dimnet, Art of Thinking, 1928

"Most of us are raised to believe we are ordinary. The anchor of the universe is present in every child. A parent only needs to guide and step aside and let them fulfill their dharma. Help children remember that they can do or be anything."

EUREKA!!

Finally I successfully located and photographed this rare leucistic Phainopepla. I knew it was somewhere in Sabino Canyon, and with some guidance from a fellow photographer friend, I found him! This one particular bird has been coming to Sabino Canyon for years, but this is my first time even seeing him. Leucistic means a lack of pigment (not to be confused with albinism). Where normally the head on the males of this species is completely black, this beauty sports a white crest.

It's been a rough couple of months.

...but it was shut...doh

My bow paddler also has excellent view of nature from the front of our canoe pointing to a heron in the distance. We were quickly paddling back to the shore as it was getting dark and threatening to rain but I had to try and image the bird. See next image post pending.
