We went back to the Guggenheim in the afternoon hoping for a nice sunset. I took a few shots over a couple of hours. This is the first. More to come.

BILBAU (Espanha): Museu Guggenheim.

The bridge was opened on January 9, 1972 and is work of the engineer Juan Batanero. Originally and until 2006, the date on which it changed its name to the current one, it was called "Príncipes de Asturias" bridge
It's made of green concrete and was the first bridge in Spain to be built with the cable-stayed system.
It was built in the early 1970s to connect the city with the suburbs, and now it also links up with the Guggenheim Museum. On the tenth anniversary of the Museum, a great red gate by the French artist Daniel Buren called "L'arc rouge" (The red arc) was opened on the bridge.

The Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain
The day wasn't very promising, light-wise, and the hour wasn't the best, but when I got outside, the clouds had thickened and provided a very nice framing for the building.
A striking building, this. More impressive from the outside than most the exhibitions inside, I must say.
