The guest house is a beautiful blend of welcoming love, finding lost and found romance. A place of confronting the ghosts that walk in our past. It could be a quiet place to find ourselves and smell the sweet roses along the way.

Previously unpublished shot from August 2016. I imagine they thought I was a photographer or family member for the wedding, judging by their huge cheesy grins. Enjoy!
This is the first time we have seen the Pine Marten (Martes martes) 'live', all previous viewings have been on the trail cam and usually under the cover of darkness. This shot was taken at about 07:20 and it was a joy to watch him munching on peanuts from the squirrel feeder.
The next challenge will be to try and get a shot in the tree or at least somewhere more 'natural'.

From Wikipedia:
Hardman is an unincorporated historic community in Morrow County, Oregon, United States on Oregon Route 207 north of Rock Creek. It is considered a ghost town.
The first settlers in the area were John F. Royse and his brother. Royse started a school in 1879 at a place called Dairyville, which locals referred to as "Rawdog". At the same time, David Hardman, who arrived in the county in 1878, started a settlement a mile to the southeast. A post office named Hardman was established there in 1881 with Hardman as postmaster. A mile to the northwest of Dairyville was the community of Adamsville, known to the locals as "Yallerdog". In 1882, the Hardman post office was moved to Dairyville but retained the Hardman name. Adamsville post office was established in 1884 and closed in 1885, and thereafter, all activity centered on what is now Hardman, where the post office ran intermittently until 1968. Locals called the place "Dogtown" after its two predecessors.
From me:
Hardman is a living ghost town. The few remaining residents of Hardman live amongst numerous structures like this one, their mobile homes squeezed in where they could find room. In a few cases, the old structures are actually inhabited. I have to wonder how the residents manage. It can't be easy. I suspect it never was.

We spent the last few days of our road trip around Slovenia in its pretty little capital Ljubljana. Our first day there we took a picnic lunch with us and headed into Tivoli Park which is just a short walk from the center.
It's funny how you become aware of the presence of another living creature without actually seeing it. At some point I became aware of something sitting beside me, I looked down and there was this little squirrel. I said "hello there" very quietly at which point it jumped onto the picnic bench and proceeded to explore my camera bag looking for food.
My wife loves wildlife so she was beside herself and started to feed it apple and nuts. It came so close to me I had to lean back to keep it in focus.
We went back the next day hoping to see her again but she didn't show up, probably sleeping off a food coma 😄
Quoting from this news article:
As winter descends upon Varanasi, the Ganges River becomes a majestic haven for migratory birds from north and central Asia. The city witnesses a seasonal influx of species like the Siberian Crane and Ruddy Shelduck, turning the landscape into a winter wonderland that attracts bird enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. The sailors of Ganga Ghat have emerged as the dedicated guardians of these avian visitors, playing a crucial role in protecting the birds and ensuring a harmonious coexistence between nature and human activity along the sacred river. Their efforts contribute to the preservation of the unique atmosphere that has made Varanasi a cultural and spiritual hub. Adding to the allure, migratory birds have swarmed the city, enhancing its winter beauty. From November to December, species like the Siberian Crane and Ruddy Shelduck can be easily spotted around the Dashashwamedh Ghat, creating a breathtaking avian haven along the Ganges River.
