This x-ray of my teeth was taken by a new camera that moved slowly from one side to the front and around to the other side. When you look closer at it there's a texture from the display screen it was on that greatly limits the resolution. The actual digital x-ray displayed at the dentist's (and not just my little copy of it here) can be zoomed in on for amazing detail. This looks to be like a big advance over the old bite wing dental x-rays, yet I was told that on my next visit in 6 months I'm scheduled for 4 more of those old x-rays, so I guess this new dental x-ray digital imaging has not completely replaced film.
There's several things about this x-ray that I don't understand. For example, why do the front teeth look so odd -- they look normal in ordinary light. And why the dark shadows on each side of the front teech? Of course, the white tops of molars are my crowns, at least that was easy to figure out. And the roots below the gums are also easy to identify. My dentist didn't need to zoom in on this visit, but I remember when he did last time the clarity and detail improved a lot for areas like those roots. So at least some of the parts that look fuzzy here are much sharper when zoomed in on.
