Kogin embroidered insect brooches for a group exhibition, The Kingdom of Specimens at ranbu gallery (2nd floor) in Osaka, Japan, opening June 20th, 2018!
I used some of my hand-dyed Kogin fabrics and most of my hand-dyed Kogin threads for the brooches, and I also used tiny Japanese glass beads for the details.

breathing
angry enough
to awaken
she reached for the light
switch but thought
better of the habit
and
somewhere in the dark
a candle and a box of matches
allowed her
comfort enough
to return to sleep
somewhere between
hiroshima and nagasaki
souls gathering into
bouquets of reincarnations

EGO SHOOTERS deals with aspects of the photographers’ self-image: contemplative, partially ironic, discoveries and depictions of the individual selves. Beyond artistic self-portraits -including selfies of course - mirrored reflections, own shadows or body parts get in the focus. Self-staged portraits of artists – posing for or shot by other photographers or in a photo booth - receive a section of their own. From modesty to egomania, it’s all about feelings...
