The Lawrence Farmers Market opened for the 2008 season on Wednesday, July 2 and will be held every Wednesday through October 29. The market will feature extended hours this season, from 10:30 AM to 6:30 PM, in order to provide expanded access to the market for working people in Lawrence and commuters returning to Lawrence in the evenings. The market is located on Appleton Way between Essex and Common Streets, near City Hall at 200 Common Street.

Today our friends John, Bob & Leighton have spent today moving the spoil we have saved during our rebuild and placed it around the back of the property, raising the ground level by a metre. For the first time we have been able to get an idea what it will be like when the landscaping is complete & how nice is it not to have so many steps to climb & descend.

In an effort to contribute something meaningful based on our skill set, The Creative Strategy Group set up a one-day design sprint with Groundwork Opportunities (GO), an organization aimed at eliminating poverty from the ground up by investing in local leaders across the world.

The team met with co-founders - Bart and Jenny - to go over their website and messaging; the final goal was a more strategic and streamlined experience highlighting local leaders from around the world and the wonderful things GO does. Final deliverables included a strategic site map to help get their message out more effectively, wireframes for layouts, simplifying and focusing their messaging to be more impactful, and design ideas. We are hoping to work with this wonderful organization in the future – encouraging them to expand their already substantial impact.

This year Get Online Middleton took part in UK Online’s national Give an Hour campaign – the theme of the campaign was to encourage individuals to give an hour to help someone get online. Getting ‘non liners’ to come along and ‘have a go’. During Give an Hour week we offered a variety of taster sessions and activities to show the benefits of being online. To kick start the events we hosted a ‘Bring a Grown Up Day!’ where we called upon all kids to bring along a grown up to our community hub in Middleton and help them get to grips with computers and the internet. Here’s Emily helping her dad Ian.
