According to a medieval legend, the tomb of king Arthur (Artus) is located on the grounds of the abbey; another legend says, child Jesus visited Glastonbury together with Joseph of Arimathea. When Joseph set his walking staff on the ground to sleep, it miraculously took root, leafed out, and blossomed as the "Glastonbury Thorn". It blooms twice in a year, in spring and on Christmas. The "Holy Thorn" has been kept alive by grafting or cutting, and over centuries a budded branch has been sent to the Queen on Christmas each year (wikipedia).

A shot from earlier in the year, when every night seemed to be a perfect sunset, and i was living on the beach. I do get a bit obsessive and hate to miss good skies, I should relax more, there's always another one. Grounds for divorce is a great and appropriate title by Elbow, and perhaps it would be.

Most very year I travel to New Mexico in the Winter to spend a week or so with millions of birds at the Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge. This is one of the feeding grounds for the Snow Geese and Sandhill Cranes. I love this area because it reminds of of the African landscape, wild and untouched...for the most part.

Do you like to get lost? Doing so at the close by mountain peak called Lisja Stjena ( Fox peak) back home it’s not that difficult to do. Chasing light at 1400m (4600ft) above the see level never gets dull. This particular trail brings a ton of feelings back and getting lost again in this beautiful landscapes is really exciting. What do you think?

Spotted flycatchers hunt from conspicuous perches, making sallies after passing flying insects, and often returning to the same perch. Their upright posture is characteristic.

They are birds of deciduous woodlands, parks and gardens, with a preference for open areas amongst trees.

J. These sculptures have been placed in public settings throughout the world.

Apart from a small crop, this is straight out of camera. Quite happy with the light and the sky :-)

I think this church has a very beautiful architecture. Both on the interior as well as on the exterior. The interior, for instance, is rather bright and has a somewhat purple glow because of the colours of the stained glass windows. The top of the tower is open and the details of the ornaments is exceptional.

This church has a different story too. If you zoom in and look just above the clock, you can see three cages. If you google “Jan van Leiden” (John of Leiden) you will find three men came to a gruesome end of their lives in front of this church and their bodies were put in these cages and left there for years. If you compare the story of these men, slowly moving towards violence and founding a state on radical religious grounds, and compare it to the IS caliphate you will learn there is nothing new under the sun. This all happened in the 1530’s, but is pretty well documented.

The Sanctuary of Our Lady La Salette is located high in the mountains La Salette-Fallavaux. It was created in a place where in 1846 at an altitude of 1800 meters two children, Maximin Giraud and Melania Calvat, had a vision of Mother of God. According to the children's account, the Virgin asked people to respect their rest on the seventh day and to respect the name of God. Humanity was threatened with a painful punishment, which was later combined with famine in France in the months after the apparition. At the place of revelation, a source springs out, which flows continuously until today.

On September 19, 1851, church authorities recognized, "... that the Revelation of the Blessed Virgin Mary to the two shepherds on September 19, 1846 ... has all the characteristics of truth and the faithful have reasonable grounds to recognize them as unquestionable and certain. "

Already in 1852, the construction of the church was begun, which was completed in 1865, and consecrated as a smaller basilica in 1879.

The Sanctuary of Notre-Dame de la Salette includes the basilica and other buildings (including the hotel), which were erected on the site of this revelation.

Sanktuarium Notre-Dame de la Salette obejmuje bazylikę i inne budynki (w tym hotel), które zostały wzniesione na miejscu opisywanego objawienia.
