It was a mild, sunny spring afternoon, so what better way to enjoy the day than to spend a few hours at the arboretum!
While crossing the footbridge, heading toward our fave sitting area, we noticed the water in the lake looked super muddy and coated with pollen. And THEN we noticed turtles all over the place, sunning on the bank.
Most had shells coated in mud, so they were probably the cause of the water looking so muddy. But with the sun warming things up they were definitely happy campers, In fact, one might even say the one on the far left was feeling groovy!

As I was driving north towards Glen Coe, I saw this rather striking mountain and found a safe place to park so I could photograph it.
Today I came across this beautiful structure of fungi on our walk in the woods. The design caught my attention but the caps appeared to be dark grey, almost black with a lighter color in the stem and gills. It was in deep shade. I had my macro lens and took the shot thinking maybe I would convert to black and white. Then I took out my portable light and shone it under the fungi. I was surprised to see hints of blue and green show up in the caps! Bert helped to direct the light at just the right angle to bring out most of the color. Then in post edit, I used several sliders to bring out contrast, warmth, and darken the background. Lastly, I applied a light HDR filter. It is a single shot so I am happy with how sharp it turned out. Happy Sliders Sunday!
