After being held at the signal LMS Class 8f No48624 puts the power on to get the train moving again.
Still a little chilly out, but I see one of the kid's playing in the front yard!
I guess the statue draws attention away from the rest of the house!
Happy Smile on Saturday!
As the drizzle picks up and the day gets darker, I've bumped the ISO past acceptable limits...but I still like this one. Illinois Terminal heritage SD70ACe 1072 pulls NS train 223 east past the vintage Southern signal bridges at A&S Junction in Alorton, IL, one of my favorite spots in the East St. Louis area.
For those of you who don't know Philly or sports, Gritty is the official mascot of the Philadelphia Flyers National Hockey League and was one of the Chiditarod carts this past weekend. Lots of Grittys all at once running down the streets of Chicago to raise money for charity (The Chicago Food Depository) Very fun!

The Standard Railroad of the World disappeared into PC when I was just a young pup but the PRR I vaguely recall always seemed to be a gritty operation. Here's a group of big 6 axle Alco's working Horseshoe Curve in May 1966. 8613 leads coal loads in this Paul Kutta shot, Chuck Schwesinger collection.
Determined to make it home for Christmas Eve, the crew aboard train no. 246-24 waste no time as they blast out of the Hunter Street Tunnel with a brutish looking SD70ACU in the lead.
As the times change even seeing a good AC44 is considered a win somedays. In typical CP fashion their unwashed paint and decals show their age in the afternoon sunlight.
An eastbound empty coke train rolls along the Mon River south of downtown Pittsburgh on a steel gray day in the Steel City.
