Is a lil project I started working on a couple of months ago. The Heygate estate is Europe's biggest abandoned housing estate it's very similar to the projects in queens New York, it's located in south London in case any szers wanna pay a visit. The estate is currently being demolished as part of the regeneration of the Elephant and Castle area. It was home to more than 3,000 people. The Heygate is well known for being one of the starkest examples of post-war urban decay in the United Kingdom. Its notoriety has led to it being used frequently as a filming location for music videos and movies. I marched up the muddy hill hoping to find a way in and with luck I spotted a gap underneath one of the fences just big enough for me to go through. I continued trudging through the mud almost falling a couple of times and eventually made it to the fence. I hid in some bushes checking to see if theirs any security around luckily none. It's sad Streamzoo is closing I will really miss this place it's been such a good influence on my life it brought me out of my box made me see the world in a different perspective actually made me go out and see the world. It made me take photography seriously I've met some amazing people who now I call friends almost family so I will never forget this place. I hope their is some way of saving this place if not my last series of photos will be something I've been working real hard on this year I've been exploring abandoned buildings, factories, hospitals, research facilities and monestarys In and around London. Some of these are extremely hard to get in due to on site securities and various obstacles. I've managed to get some truly breathtaking and downright grimey photos. 10 minutes later found the place Fuck! It's a up a hill with barbed wire fencing around the land, as well as inside close to the building was 6ft high metal fencing the kind that is near enough impossible to climb over un assisted, my heart sank doubt started creeping in. I woke up at 06:00am for this and their was no way I was giving up that easily. I walked for like another teen minutes up this hill looking for a way in and couldn't find one as the property was really secure by the new land owners Berkleys property developers. Part one Mise en place Well I thought I would put a story to my pictures this time around just how I found it, how I got in, what I saw what i felt basically my experience.
