Perched upon the fortifications conceived by Vauban to protect what was once the acropolis of the greek town of Antipolis, the Castle of the Grimaldi became a stronghold of the powerful genoese family in the Middle Ages. The castle became subsequently the residence of the governor of the King of France, Antibes' town hall and a military garrison. In 1946 Pablo Picasso was offered the chance to install his atelier within the castle, which, in 1966, becomes the Picasso Museum, housing around 245 master pieces by the artist.
Grimaldi's definitely has great pizza. Not the best (you'd have to go to Patsy's in Spanish Harlem for that), but is a definite guarantee for good times.

A brief description of him found by his grave.
Salty and Pip at Grimaldi's. Shortly after my arrival in NYC, Anna and I went here with Salty and Pip to gnaw on the BIGGEST pizza I have ever seen (or eaten). Grimaldi's was Sinatra's hang - see his visage on the far wall.

The coat of arms of the Grimaldi family graces (no pun intended) the buses in Monaco. The sword-wielding monk in the center represents Rainier Grimaldi, ancestor of the present Prince Albert. Legend has it that in 1297 this Genoese Guelph leader dressed as a monk to gain entrance to the castle of Monaco, which he proceeded to conquer with the help of henchmen following close behind. Some scholars cast doubt on this dramatic version of the origin of the principality.
If Albert wants to become the head of state of a smaller country, he will have to be elected Pope.
