Al has a soft spot for this little shack on the dock at Port Orford so we finally made it a point to eat here. Everything was delicious! Old Bay on the french fries is genius!

probably my favorite shot i've ever gotten of my dog. this is griffin. he was born around may 2002, but we don't know for sure. the story goes that a woman my mother worked with rescued animals, and she found griffin a scraggly little mutt hiding from the rain by cowering beneath a bigger dog. she gave him a good home with my mother who loves him deeply. a couple years after griff moved in, the woman who rescued him suffered a brain aneurysm and died suddenly. griffin always reminds my mother of her.
Griff Hollows is an idyllic little place hidden away right next to a main road and suburban houses on the edge of Nuneaton. The natural wooded hollow with a brook running through it is full of native bluebells in springtime. The novelist George Eliot grew up near here and it appears in 'The Mill on the Floss' as 'Red Deeps' where the characters Maggie and Philip meet in secret.
Griff the Drake bulldog made a visit to Monroe Elementary School to visit with the little huskies on Thursday, October 24th. Monroe is just one of the many stops this month for Griff’s literacy tour, so he was a bit tired from all of his travels. Dressed up as The Lorax, Griff and his faithful Drake companions read The Lorax to kindergarten and 1st grade classes before receiving a few scratches and pets. Then the little huskies marched back to class. (Jon Lemons/Des Moines Public Schools)
