So this is the backside of one of the trees I regularly shoot in the field directly behind my house. I had posted a picture of it a couple of months ago before the field had been plowed under. I will repost it below in the comments section.

Fed up of having a bad time with the North Wales RHTT I went up to Cumbria for a couple of autumnal shots and as luck would have it 37401 hove into view here at Green Road with 2C41 08.45 Barrow - Carlisle.
There was the first snow of the winter on Scafell, barely visible though.

A silly boy playing in Green Road ford
The picture was taken at twilight for a U3A photographic group project on "The blue hour" I was actually waiting for a car to come the other way but this twerp was too good to miss.

Every time the River Cole floods some stupid, brainless idiot will try and drive through it. The water depth marker is fairly obvious as are the triangular "Flood" and "Ford" signs, does it make any difference, no. I think these people expect someone to actually be there and tell them not to drive through. These are the people who open doors into the path of cyclists, pull out in front of a motorcyclist with a joyous "oh sorry I didn't see you" they are the ones who drive over pedestrian crossings without looking.
Well this idiot is off the road for a time, good I sez!
With the sun at its zenith harshly lit 37409+37606 start to slow for the stop at Green Road with 2C49 11.38 Barrow - Carlisle on Friday 3 July 2015.
I would rather sake it like this than not at all after the miles we put in!
One for later in the year.
DRS driver training run 5Z57, the 0750 Carlisle Kingmoor - Carnforth U&DGL, crosses Arnaby Moss shortly after departing Green Road with 68 029 & 68 003 top & tailing on Thursday 25th January 2018.
Couldn't resist a snapshot of my car with these bungalows, I believe part of a former sheltered housing complex which was due to be demolished (possibly this has now taken place) off Green Road, Woolpit, Suffolk. They look more like 1960s holiday chalets to me...
A nice example of a Bee Orchid taken yesterday in the Burren, just off The Green Road, near Kilnaboy, North Clare. A typical West of Ireland damp misty day created lovely soft lighting although left us somewhat soaked!
37401 Mary Queen of Scots with Lakeland Fells behind her growls through Green Road station with the 14.52 Barrow in Furness to Carlisle service. The train terminated at Workington due to unavailability of train crew.
Green Road is on the Cumbrian Coast and lies between Barrow and Workington. We were holidaying at Broughton-in-Furness and this was the nearest station. It was about a 2 mile walk but with sights like this, well worth the effort.
Survivor's "Eye Of The Tiger" was No.1 in the UK Singles chart on this particular day.
40008 was withdrawn 2 months later in November 1982 and finally cut-up in June 1988. RIP.
37405 approaches Green Road working 5C34 1255 Barrow - Workington following the cancellation of the 1138 Barrow - Carlisle due to no guard.

The River Cole in flood at Green Road ford, the normal depth in the ford is around 6 inches, the depth marker in the centre shows that the water is just about 3.7 feet deep, around waist depth in fact.
A few hours later a mother and her offspring made national news because she had tried to drive through the and finished up with her car wedged under the bridge this was taken from. Fortunately she and her child were rescued by a brave young man.
The road was actually closed off by barriers, obviously a gap had to be left to allow house-holders to access their homes. No wonder our car insurance premiums are so high!

Just composing the master shot (!) when the tranquility of the River Cole ford at Green Road Birmingham is lost.
Any sensible person would drive slowly through the water but teenage know-it-all hits it at around 25, it is these idiots that try and drive through when the river is in flood and end up against the footbridge...oh, what a shame.

Here at Harrogate we are currently having the electronic telematics driver assessment programme GREENROAD... fitted to all the fleet
This works by each vehicle being fitted with 120 electronic sensors measuring driving styles and abilities. All driving is recorded by a computer and is sent to a main computer by real time GPS. From a driving point of view we have a tiny LED "Traffic Light" diode on the dashboard that shows green, orange or red depending on the driving standard. For example if you brake or accelerate smoothly you will see green, if you do it sharply but controlled you get an "Event" and you see the light change to orange....... Do any manouvre recklessly and you get an "Event" and the light goes RED....... ( Not good at all....)
Providing you drive calmly smoothly without any erratic manouvres it is reasonably easy to stay green !!!
You do have to remember to log yourself into the bus using a "Dallas" key magnet sensor...
Intrestingly..........
3 hours after your driving you can log onto any computer and see your drive and where if required you had an event ( this shows the speed and everything you can imagine with regards you driving of the said bus at said time......... Scary stuff !!! )
Certainly the most advanced technological spy in the cab to date
