The U.S. equivalent of our iconic and long lived FX4 "London" Taxi though sadly Checker went out of business by the early 1980s. 2020 saw the 60th anniversary of its launch and so Greenlight utilised its casting for this wonderful special release complete with themed packaging artwork.

I'm a big fan of Greenlight, quality issues aside, and this is rapidly becoming one of my favourite castings. Mint and boxed.

“We all have scars, we gonna have more. Rather than struggle against time and waste it, let’s dance with time and redeem it. Cause we don’t live longer when we try not to die. We live longer when we are too busy living.”

― Matthew McConaughey, Greenlights

Hobby Exclusive 1989 Chevrolet Caprice in authentic New York City Transit Police livery. Very much the squared up full sized saloon of the period which we Brits got to see lots of in films and TV shows at the time. Very crisply cast and appreciably well detailed and finished for a more premium aimed diecast. Mint and boxed.

The X Files themed 1983 Ford LTD Crown Victoria Police car by Greenlight though I can't quite read what the emblem says on the front door! I think I need glasses! ;-p

Mint and boxed.

With badge engineering just as blatant as anything our own BMC and Rootes Group could muster, the American auto industry cleverly and usually successfully had different marques and model names based on the same body but attracting different clientele. It also means a LOT of scope for diecast toy makers specialising in the genre such as Greenlight. One of their newest castings and one which i've no doubt will be very quickly maximised. Mint and boxed.

Wonderfully gaudy looking Greenlight 1970 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser with a colour scheme which resembles a Caramac confectionary treat. Very much of its time and replicated beautifully by Greenlight who have fast become my favourite premium 1/64 brand. Mint and boxed.

On this Sunny, Tuesday April 11th ,2023 morning . We see Hazzard Range County sheriff’s office Deputy Clayton Butler talking with two people beside Hairrson's Hardware Sparta branch as a woman walks her dog in the street/parking lot of the old Sparta train station that is now used for the bus station / visitor information center.

The Caboose we see is used as a shove platform for Inter County Railway ( ICR ) whose crew is doing some switching in the yard ,before taking the caboose and some empty hoppers out to the Hazzard Range Sand and Gravel Zeolite mine .

ICR has trackgest rights on BNSF tracks here ,but the mine is on 25 miles of ICR own tracks that once was part of the Sparta Creekdale and Philipsburg Railroad that ran about 100 miles from Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe ( now BNSF ) Junction in Sparta ( Hazzard Range county seat ) to Philipsburg ( county seat of Clay county ). It operated from 1888 to 1960 hauling freight ,ore and passengers. and all tracks was removed by the mid 1970s ,but in 2002 ICR rebuilt part the line to Zeolite mine ,though ICR owns the whole 100 mile right of way

Can you believe that despite having many U.S. themed Taxi models in my collection I hadn't actually got any of the iconic Checker Marathon! I never found the Matchbox version, the Golden Wheel version or any other for that matter! With that in mind i'm extremely pleased with the latest one by Greenlight which by the virtue of its collector grade quality is better than any 1/64 version i've seen before.

Americas answer to our FX4 though sadly only living until the early 1980's when Checker Motors went out of business, it still features in a thousand movies and TV programmes set around New York at the time. Very big, very boxy and that styling has been captured beautifully by Greenlight along with whitewall tyres and masses of detailing. This one is a Hobby Exclusive but luckily for us Brits you can pick one up very easily from Modelmatic. Mint and boxed.

Wonderful semi-premium Greenlight 1967 Chevrolet Impala Sport Sedan which I believe was used mainly for the Supernatural TV show series. It has a plastic baseplate but otherwise is well detailed and still has a nice weighty feel. Mint and boxed.

From GL Muscle Release 18. This is one of Greenlight's best castings. 1/64 scale.

An absolute peach of a casting, really weighty thanks to its all metal construction, beautifully cast and very well detailed right down to its wheels and whitewall tyres. From the Norman Rockwell Series 3 set sourced recently from Modelmatic. Mint and boxed.

Terminator 2 Judgement Day associated release of the new Greenlight 1987 Chevrolet Caprice. A super crisp casting from front to rear though again no opening features which might be the new norm for Greenlight. Sourced recently from Modelmatic. Mint and boxed.

68 Jeepster by Greenlight. Very nice 1/64 scale model.

Racing Champions Mint - America's Finest - Limited Edition - 1 of 1336 - 1/64 = 2017

I've really got into collecting Greenlight products since first buying them on a trip to the States a few years back. They aren't particularly cheap as I have to buy them online but as an occasional treat they hit the spot despite sometimes niggling QC issues. I tend to stick to their big lumbering saloons and wagons from the 1970's onwards but recently they surprised a lot of people by introducing this super crisp and clean 1974 VW Golf MK1.

Thankfully they haven't gone down the predictable GTI route, rather sticking to its bone stock guise which are the ones which VW sold in huge volumes and helped them massively to get away from relying too much on the ageing Beetle. Its a true 1/64 meaning it was actually smaller than expected but mathematically correct and is dwarfed next to their usual Detroit Iron castings. Delicious levels of detailing, a perfect era correct colour and an all metal construction. Sourced from Modelmatic. Mint and boxed.

Remarks/comments:

Despite having masses of 1970's onwards generations of Ford Econolines in my collection this could well be my first of the 1960's variety. Still looking very modern compared to most of the vans we Brits had in the same era such as the archaic BMC J4 and Commer PB it looks particularly handsome in this GULF livery and a smart casting in general. Not quite a panel van of course as this is the passenger carrying Club Wagon variant complete with rows of seats. With its all metal content this is one robust and weighty little diecast. Mint and boxed.

CLAY COUNTY TIMES ~ Social Media post

01/08/2025 7:10 AM Wednesday

Due to current weather conditions, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office and New Mexico State Police advise that roads are slick throughout the county, but some incidents have happened. Namely along NM 308, I-25, and NM 155 and in Basin City .2 hour Delay is in effect for all schools and government offices.

~NOTE NOT IN THE PAPER OR ONLINE~

Most of Clay County's population lives along the NM 308, I-25, and NM 155 corridors. Basin City is an unincorporated area of the County, in The Terreno Llano Seco basin ( TLS basin ) means dry flat land in Spanish. TLC basin is about 90 miles long, by 20 miles wide in western Apache and Clay counties.

I can't get enough of Greenlights classic 70's and 80's station wagon castings and boy do they keep on coming! Absolutely loving this faux wood filled 1979 Ford LTD Country Squire with its masses of fantastic detailing and all metal construction.

Bought recently from Modelmatic.

The large amounts of money saved not doing my usual big diecast hunts searching for Matchbox and Hot Wheels has meant being able to splash out a bit more on some delicious premium models from Greenlight. Obviously we Brits can't walk into a local store and buy them from the pegs but thanks to Modelmatic they are much more accessible. My favourite Greenlight products are their 1970's and 80's big American saloons and wagons, a genre they excel at and thats the subject of my recent purchases.

Their Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser is one of their more recent castings and taps into that nostalgia a lot of people have for these pre MPV giants. This Hobby Exclusive Ambulance is naturally several grades up from the Matchbox equivalent with its mass of detailed separate parts and weighty all metal body. I'm still waiting for Oxford Diecast to take up the premium 1/64 challenge! Mint and boxed.

Remarks/comments:

I can't deny that i'd never heard or watched the Andy Griffith Show but as a 40 year old man living in the U.K. that's hardly a surprise. Thanks to the Greenlight Hollywood series I now know of its existence and some of the vehicles which featured in it such as this 1967 Ford Custom Police car. Thanks to my recent visit to the U.S. I am now very much a fan of Greenlight which is yet another premium 1/64 brand which can be breezily picked up on the pegs from various retailers such as Toys R Us and Target. This is exactly the type of large 1960's American saloon I like to collect in miniature form and I got the opportunity to experience the more adult themed level of the 1/64 market with this exceptionally well produced model complete with masses of detailing and accuracy. This one came from Toys R Us who's diecast aisle is very much different to the one we get here sadly! Mint and boxed.
