Okay, where am I going with this quote, and why the link to this image? I admire Noam Chomsky. I regard him as arguably one of the worlds leading public intellectuals. It amazes me how much he knows about pretty much everything. But this quote was composed by Noam (his studies included linguistics) to simply demonstrate an example of a sentence that is grammatically correct but schematically nonsensical. I like the title for this picture, because in this context, it conveys a sense deep thought and contemplation. Perhaps an idea or understanding that is just about to burst into fruition... The black and white rendering of the photo along with the green spot colour was to draw the association back to the quote.

As an aside, what is the colour of jealousy? Now there is an idea for a photo!

Hope you all had a fantastic weekend!

I am very excited about converting this section of my backyard for a number of reasons but mainly because it feels like a vacation spot away from home and can become a great outdoor creative space for my canvas artwork and sculpting. NOTE:

My biggest dilemma is the lightning. I want to use solar lamps, mainly because I like the idea that they light up on their own when it gets dark but I don’t really like the blueish dim light that most solar fixtures give off, they can also be expensive, so I created another method for low-voltage fixtures but that is another “how-to” project you can easily do yourself by visiting my website.

Being a reseller of Gently used jeans , my job is to sell sell sell !

However I am a GREEN Eco saleswoman before I could ever feel comfortable making money myself.

If your jeans can be recycled, PLEASE do so !

In the months to come, it will be in our best intrests as a country to SAVE instead of BUY, but if there's absolutely NO hope left for your jeans then we suggest buying gently used jeans from a "GENTLY USED" seller or dealer, at yard sales or even thrift stores.

Don't buy NEW ... Why pay $60 - $200 for a pair of jeans that are basicly GENTLY USED after they've been worn and washed just once.

In this post, I wanna give all of you some quick ideas on recycling your old jeans instead of throwing them away, which by the way fills up our landfills unnessesarily.

Did you know that each person in the world throws away 68 pounds of used and even new clothes each and every year ?

I'll admit, I've always been a "t-shirt and jeans" gal. Frankly, nothing makes me happier than a comfy pair of jeans paired with a basic white shirt and some sneakers.

Maybe it is a pre-mid life crisis, but lately I've grown tired of looking like I walked out of a Gap commercial. It's time to spice things up a bit.

Thankfully, I was able to consult with two of my favorite frugal fashionistas (my cousins) during our holiday get-together. Trust me, these gals could give the folks at Project Runway a run for their money. My college aged cousin (Ally) always looks great on an extremely limited budget. Her older sister (Diane) is a Stay at Home Mom yet she looks like she walked out of the pages of "Thrifty Vogue" - if there was such a magazine.

They are crafty, artsy and clever. They always make the best of what they have on-hand and look great.

So I decided to pick their brains a bit and share the tips with you. "How can I look better on a "t-shirt and jeans budget?" I asked.

I fell in love with the first idea the moment Ally walked in. She was wearing an adorable pair of jeans decorated with plaid patches. She told me that she had torn her favorite pair of old jeans and rather than tossing them she grabbed a cheese grater and created a few more holes. Then she took various fabrics she'd collected and patched the holes (from the inside). While many of you may not be crazy about the "torn jeans" look, I can assure you that it made an otherwise boring pair of jeans bright and stylish.

I complained that many of my old jeans were too short and didn't fit well anymore. Diane suggested that I cut the bottoms off of the jeans and add a "cuff" made of vintage lace. She added that you can make adorable capri pants this way too. Simply cut the bottoms off below the knees and add a fun fabric or lace "border" to them

Another way to liven up a plain white t-shirt is to add a little art. Have you noticed how vintage advertising, rock-band logos and artistic t-shirts are all the rage this Spring? If you are reading this, you have the technology at your fingertips to make your own trendy tee. My cousin loves making unique shirts for her boys using images she finds on the internet. Do an images search on Google and print the graphic onto iron-on paper. You can also find creative commons files (free for personal use) on websites like Flickr.com and Morguefile.com.

Personally, I love the vintage advertising created by the US Government and thankfully all of these images are considered public domain (like the classic Rosie the Riveter "We Can Do It" ad). Why not find a black and white picture of a vintage race car or airplane and add it to your son's white shirt? The internet images and the possibilities are endless. Even if you are trying to liven up your style a bit, you don't need to toss them out just yet. Get creative, save money and create a style that is all your own.

First time I've seen this in action. . . . captured on the University of North Carolina Asheville campus.

Car made by Nissan. Zero emissions. They get about 73-75 miles (120 km) per charge, I read.

Most people consider them an "around town" car.

~Some white glue

~ craft knife

~ A ruler

~ The end of a paint brush, or a chop stick

~ Pencil

the grooves sliced, and pushed down into the corrugated grooves. To make a wider slot, just push 2 grooves down. I have found if you dampen just the line where the groove is to go, the paper will bend and push down easy.

Its important to glue the paper down well, and get it smooth with the chop stick, or paint brush tip. The wider groove...use you finger!

We all want to live the great life but for many the great life is a distant blur.

You CAN have the simpler lifestyle you want, you just need to focus on it, decide what your willing to do or give up to get it and GO FOR IT !

Life CAN be a beautiful place to live, and you CAN afford to live there.

My dream lifestyle has always been a simple one, and one that my family of 6 has near achieved ...it is relaxing, frugal or should I say "thrifty" , spiritually sound, (we're still working on Healthy), happy, GREEN, environmentally responsible, and comfortable.

We have taught ourselves and our children that success is a personal achievement , we've learned to live by rules and limits, and give up some things to have others although I must admitt it wasnt easy and some days it still isn't , I honestly believe that GO GREEN SAVE GREEN can and will help you and your family Feel more relaxed in your lives and save money while achieving it.

We hope you'll use any or all of the tips in our photo blog on flickr to help you achieve the lifestyle you desire, live sustainably, and be able to get there by only readjusting your priorities, spending habbits, and needs vs. wants...

We want a Happy, GREEN world and hope you do too , but we also want to keep our heads above water financially to do so.

So lets get started and please post any tips you may have to help your fellow flickr members get to their dream lifestyle a little bit faster or easier.

I found that slicing the groove first with a craft knife and ruler...was most accurate. Then, I used a little bit of tacky glue and the back of a paint brush handle (a chop stick would work also) and glued the grooves down. The last 2 photos explain further.

I let it dry over night and it was strong and sturdy. I marked ruler measurements with a ball point pen (shown in photo 2) and now I can churn out bracelets much faster then before. It works far better then any other way I have tried. Keeps tiny pearls and round beads perfectly lined up and ready to thread. A bead board is quite helpful when stringing subtle gradations in bead sizes.

See the next photo....

....continued from last photo:

This came from the flap of a box I was going to toss out , and I have used it many times now. It could be made nicer, and painted white, but who has time for that? :-)

Whats better about this then those flimsy store bought plastic ones...this will last and not bend or crack. Its very easy to store. I plan on making a nicer one out of cardboard ...but for my first one needed in a hurry, its perfectly fine.

The advertising eco-agency in Madrid now has a new address.

Video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oeby3dKeInQ

We have taken another big step. We’ve moved to an office in the centre of Madrid. It has pretty comfortable offices, meeting rooms and a generous terrace with spectacular views of the city. Gran Via is one of the noisiest areas of Madrid, but luckily our offices don’t open onto the road. This means that it’s an ideal place in which to work for a better world. Our strength is creative communication focused towards sustainability and digital media. In other words, we are dedicated to ecodesign, eco-marketing and eco-advertising with a strong preference for everything related to the online world. In this way, every NGO and each green, ecological and responsible company which needs to reach their goals on the net, has and will always have the doors of Ecotronika open to them.

There’s green among so much grey.
