Driving home from work yesterday I heard a program about the arms industry producing non-toxic 'green bullets'. Reducing the use of lead by making steel shell casings, the idea is that the bullets will be more environmentally friendly and safer to use and handle. This blew my mind, it just seems so hypocritical, I ended up my journey having a mind rant, peed off with all big business that treats us as mugs.
The ethical dubiousness of McDonald's selling salads, whilst simultaneously assisting the western world to obesity. The financial systems that oil the wheels of our civilisation seem to make money for the privileged 1% at the top of the tree. They fine and penalise us for minor issues as a bounced direct debit whilst laundering money for foreign regimes. We are spoon fed wars and political staging on our tv's, all to keep the money rolling in.
Anyway... I have been meaning to have a go at layering a la imagispeak-stylee, inspired by green bullets, this is my attempt. It's probably nothing to do with what I intended it to be, although my rule is that I can only use images that I have take myself, I haven't got any pictures of guns, or green bullets, just that missile...I had to work with what I've got!
Technical Stuff
The base image was an hdr shot of the sign of my local mcd's, it was processed to be dramatic. On the left of the image was a tree, I struggled to mask it out so I copied the sky out of the right side of the image and pasted it onto the left, blending it in was a pain. I then trawled my hard drive for suitable images. The NY stock exchange was taken on our NYC holiday from last year, the missile was on a submarine near the USS Intrepid and was flipped to make a mirror image. The gravestone was from a recent walk around church island on Anglesey. I realised that just sky and some buildings looked empty, so I put in the tree line and hill from a shot near our home where we walk the dog.
The layers were assembled and flattened in PS, then each half was processed seperately in perfect effects 3.
Constructive criticism please!
This is a very cool microphone made back in the early 50's. I believe it became just too expensive to build quality mics like these anymore. The Shure CR element inside is date coded, 1955. I collect old mics. If you have one you want to sell drop me an email. Thanks
