The Wheat Ridge Greenbelt is a section of the Clear Creek Trail. It is one of my favorite places to go when I am staying in Denver, Colorado. Unfortunately, like many natural places, it has been discovered by more and more people, so I usually go early in the morning before most people wake up :-))
A westbound MARC train rolls along the Capital Sub at Greenbelt MD on June 20th 1994. Note the westbound signal displaying an "approach slow" aspect. No photographer listed, JL Sessa collection.
Over 4 years after all other color position light signals have vanished from the Capital Sub, the CPLs at Greenbelt are now an anomaly in a sea of hooded Darth Vader signals. These aren't easy to shoot - trains run almost due north here, overgrowth has become a problem, and you are also shooting through a chainlink fence on an offramp. However, it's worth the effort for one of the last tangible pieces of B&O history left in the area. Here, CSX Q43822 heads north passing a pair of WMATA trains at the Green/Yellow line's northern terminus.
The Idaho Falls Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints reflects in the Snake River along the greenbelt in downtown Idaho Falls.
Idaho Falls has a lovely greenbelt around the Snake River that my wife and I enjoy walking. The light was particularly nice this evening and this perspective was one I hadn't noticed before. The Idaho Falls Temple is a prominent structure on the Snake River and is seen in the background.

THANK YOU very much for taking notice and for your support.
With the impending signal replacements in Cumberland, Greenbelt has effectively won the CPL Hunger Games in the B&O's home state. This short little interlocking still has four masts and a few dwarves, which serve to guard the platform here. This interlocking was installed in 1992 - late in the game for new CPL installations - which is probably a contributing factor in their longevity. Passing the scene is northbound Q43830, led by an AC6000 still wearing YN2. On the left is a train on Metro's Green Line, which starts and ends right here.
The greenbelt in downtown Idaho Falls photographed with a converted IR camera. The Snake River runs through town with the Idaho Falls Temple seen in the distance.
When faced with challenging circumstances, it always helps to look at things in a new light, from a different angle, or with a new perspective.
Hamilton Greenbelt is a new one for me. My friends have been trying to get me there for over a year. I didn't have a problem driving out to the lake, but they always wanted to get started early on a weekday, and the morning traffic just to crazy to deal with. Anyway, today they said 10 am. That I can do. It was a pretty hike and worth the drive. The weather was perfect and so was the company. Plus, I got some new fence and bench shots..:))
Leading a hike tomorrow on go old Barton Creek Greenbelt. I'm going to be getting started a later than usual. Hope it doesn't get to hot.
