Hier ein Berg-Bauernhof bei Fischbach in der "Waldheimat".
Die Waldheimat umfasst ein kleines Gebiet in den Fischbacher Alpen im österreichischen Bundesland Steiermark, das der bekannte steirische Dichter Peter Rosegger in seinen Werken unsterblich gemacht hat. Es handelt sich um eine waldreiche Mittelgebirgslandschaft, früher durchsetzt von unzähligen Einschichthöfen, von denen die meisten heute nicht mehr bestehen. Der Begriff schien zum ersten Mal in Gustav Freytags Touristenwanderkarte auf.
Das Gebiet wird im Süden vom touristisch und landwirtschaftlich dominierten oststeirischen Joglland und im Norden vom industriell geprägten obersteirischen Mürztal begrenzt. (wikipedia)

There were several of these in the trees inside Fort Jefferson. This one appeared to be stalking something in the branches, but I couldn't see what it was. It wasn't exactly ideal Green Heron habitat.
Dry Tortugas, Florida
Found him in the backyard today. He let us move him around a bit, take pictures, and study him closely for a few minutes before he flew off into the lilac bush. He had a wingspan of at least 4" and his head was about the size of the fingernail on my index finger. Beautiful beast!
