Greed - like lust and gluttony, a sin of excess. However, greed (as seen by the church) is applied to the acquisition of wealth in particular.

I wish i could clone money in real life like i can in PS......oops! I just commited this sin!

Granted i can be greedy sometimes but only for the things i need/want. Like a house, food, time, fun.....i am not into prada purses, millions of shoes, or designer clothing...so it isn't like i need millions of dollars. One million would be just fine ;)

But sad it is that money makes the world go round, even if you don't care about money, everyone and everything makes you need it to survive now a days.

I'm one of those painfully right-brained writer/photographer types.

I love words and word combinations and word pictures...

I love to make people ponder,

If only a little.

Pondering is highly

Underrated.

I don't normally 'sell' a story with my images, because it's Art.

Art will speak to each respective viewer exactly as it is supposed to, at that time.

In this case, due to a couple of the comments made thus far, I'll make an exception and let you in on my obscure thought process as I shoot. It's, umm... pretty out-there.

Are you sure you're ready for this? *ulp*

A cicatrix is a mark left as a result of a healing process... kind of a scar.

This is a portrait of a pre-teen girl whose father is going through a nasty divorce. She hears her mom say diminishing things about her dad, whom she adores and reveres. But she knows the truth in her heart. The embrace shown here of her trust and his strength will be their cicatrix.

She and daddy were actually being loving and goofy this day -- yesterday. She was hugging him from behind and trying to jump on his back. He grabbed hold of her hands and took turns gobbling up her forearms. Her hand is on top... the one with the scar.

It was a fun shoot, and yet the laughter was such obvious respite from more recent, and common, pain. I was compelled to capture an image that was as powerful as their situation. If not for them... well, then for me.

Once upon a time...

On another level...

I was that daughter.

I inscribe this piece for everyone, everywhere, who had to grow up with one parent, hearing bitter things about the other. God forbid any of us to become That Parent. A wholesome tongue breathes life and tolerance. But those who breed resentment are perverse... and perverseness is a breach in Spirit.

It's Monday, June 27, 2005...

Seven Deadly Sin's Series

The original round building was erected on this spot over 600 years ago; over time the far building – the square-cornered centerpiece of the Town Creek site – finally acquired its elevated status on top of the mound, itself is around 1,000 years old, surviving remarkably intact despite years of farming in the area

Mount Gilead, NC – 2019NOV10 – The Town Creek Site:

For our 23rd wedding anniversary, after church Joe & I paused for a picnic lunch on our way to Town Creek Site, set high on a low bluff of an oxbow on the west bank of the Little River near its confluence with Town Fork Creek in Mt. Gilead, NC, on the sunny southern side of the ancient Uwharrie Mountain Range located in the southeastern Piedmont region.

The protohistoric Native American ceremonial center – listed in the National Register of Historic Places and designated a National Historic Landmark – is the first North Carolina State Historic Site, and it also remains the only state historic site in North Carolina dedicated to American Indian heritage, drawing astronomers, and visitors like us, from far and wide to this fascinating time capsule.

The Native American People legacy carries muffled mystery buried in its background of protohistory, a period that spans prehistory and history, when a culture or civilization had no developed writing but when other cultures notated its existence.

Excavating the earthen mound built of clay – one mound built atop former mounds – has been a focus of archaeological research under one director for more than half a century, an unusual phenomenon in the history of North American archaeology.

People lived here for 12,000 years, but why particularly here? The Town Creek site manager Rich Thompson shared with Joe and me how major rains will turn the ceremonial center into an island surrounded by floodwater then as well as recently, flooding from the parking lot halfway up to the front door of the Visitor Center.

Why the name Indian: fueled by bravery and ignorance financed by greed and arrogance, Columbus sailed the ocean blue in 1492, heading "to India" but reaching the New World, and the Town Creek people vanished with no clue; we have no written record of explanation. Today we see these lovingly-reconstructed structures and can look and learn in amazement and wonder. So we invite you to view the best of our photos we set into 6 mini-themed albums:

Hi everyone hope everything is going well with you all, Todays painting is another one of The Seven Deadly Sins and its name is ( Greed) and its an excessive desire to possess wealth or goods;Greed (Latin, avaritia), also known as avarice or covetousness, is, like lust and gluttony, a sin of excess. However, greed (as seen by the church) is applied to a very excessive or rapacious desire and pursuit of wealth, status, and power. St. Thomas Aquinas wrote that greed was "a sin against God, just as all mortal sins, in as much as man condemns things eternal for the sake of temporal things." In Dante's Purgatory, the penitents were bound and laid face down on the ground for having concentrated too much on earthly thoughts. some people think greed is good ,that its a necessary evil not only to get along in day to day activities but good in business also,I think there is 4 stages of greed even though I painted this person with a smile on their face that is because they are in the first stage of greed just thinking about what they are going to do for their own gain, but this smile shall soon turn around into a frown and a fiery torment because I have never meet a truly happy greedy person,I think because once and if they get what they wanted thru greed their conscience will tell them what they did was evil and who wants to try and live with that on their head, not me, don't let greed come into your life or you will soon no longer have a smile or true friends ,and that my friends sounds like Hell on earth, take care steve.

While a great part of the World suffers a global economic and social crisis, the City, London, and it's banks and financials corporations grow with their greed.

Look into our eyes and answer

Where is the feast we were promised?

We are forgotten

We are lost

We disappear like some dead star in the constellation

Our tongues have been cut

Our hands broken

Our feet tied in chains of your greed and gluttony

We have been thrown on the beach like sand

And nobody cares how many times we get washed off the shore

I decided they would drive me crazy so I went and bought a bag of corn for the little devils. Mr. Cheeky seems pretty pleased with this.
