Here are a couple more later images of Wyard Scott (Leonard Reginald) as a Butler branded site. Apart from the brand change everything is exactly as it was in the Anglo photos I have of the site, even the Walls ice cream sign is in exactly the same spot - see below! They were Reliant specialists for quite some time although I am not sure if they were at this point in time or not but there is a Reliant outside the front. For anyone who has been here they will know it's well off the beaten track and ultimately it was no surprise that business gradually fell away resulting in the garage's closure only a couple of years ago. After this Butler era the garage would go on to be branded UK, which you can see below along with my most recent image of the entire site boarded up and presumably awaiting redevelopment. Streetview has now caught up and shows some new houses being built in March 2022.

This had me confused for a while - speckled, but not a speckled bush-cricket; huge ovipositor yet the wings suggest it's not an adult. This is what a female great green bush cricket nymph looks like.
Max recognised it immediately.

Here are some more images of the L.R Wyard Scott (Leonard Reginald) garage and shows it at this time branded Anglo. The pole sign is years out of date but the floor standing open sign is up to date. They were Reliant specialists for quite some time although I am not sure if they were at this point in time or not. There's an interesting assortment of pumps on view here, one Veeder Root, one Dunclare and one Gilbarco Highline.

Streetview hasn't caught up with that as yet, last visit was 2010 and still shows it UK branded and open.

Getting in close and personal with a Northern Greengrocer or Great Green Cicada, Cuclochila australasiae (virens). It could have made very bad career move by lying on the outside door mat, but when I realised it was only 'playing dead', I relocated it to a safe far away tree.
They are an intriguing large insect that live in the rainforest canopy and just on dusk all tune up in their community orchestra to bombard the forest with their harsh, loud, one-note continuous song. You can almost set the clock by their starting time and it goes on for about 20 minutes.
They are among the loudest insects in the world with the sound reaching up to 150 decibels!
Some other Aussie insects are in my album here www.flickr.com/photos/aussiegypsy/albums/72157632054226006
I really appreciate all who visit to view, comment and/or fave my nature offerings from various parts of Australia. Thank you!

The Colorado State University community including facutly, staff and students all gather on the West Lawn for the 2021 Fall Reflection. A time to reflect on the challenges we have all endured, the challenges we have yet to face, and to recognize that as a community we are strong and that we can overcome these challenges together. Really sad to see this one go, only closed quite recently and was open when I was last here in 2016 (see below). The only thing petrol related that is still left is the shutoff switch for the pumps that were there. All boarded off it looks ready for demolition and no doubt that will happen and a handful of moden generic houses will take its place. www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.1686825,0.8050615,3a,37.5y,321....
