Just getting into the room for the topic of Grant Writing was a task! So worth it though- jam packed with useful information!
After we visited the zoo, my sister, her boyfriend, and I went to get some cheesesteaks. We didn't know how to get there from the zoo, so we asked directions from a zoo parking attendant. He gave us bad directions, and we got lost in a really shady part of town--the part you DEFINITELY don't want to be in after dark. I only took a couple of photos here, and quick blurry ones at that, because I watch the Philly news and I knew that this was not the neighborhood to be flaunting my expensive camera around--people have gotten seriously hurt or killed for far less. We all were pretty tense riding through this area, but I noticed that even in the midst of difficulty, there were a lot of churches. I couldn't help but think of the song "God of This City." Every single one of the churches is proof that God is working, even in the parts a lot of us tend to shy away from. Most people see that part of the city and think that nothing good can or will come out of it. I realized again that I am not cut out to be a part of inner-city ministry, but I have even more respect for those who are called to do so. Even though we didn't quite feel safe, I knew we were because we were in God's hands.
God Of This City
Verse 1
You’re the God of this city
You’re the King of these people
You’re the Lord of this nation
You are
You’re the light in this darkness
You’re the hope to the hopeless
You’re the peace to the restless
You are
Bridge
For there is no-one like our God
There is no-one like our God
Chorus 1
Greater things have yet to come
Greater things are still to be done
In this city
Greater things have yet to come
And greater things have still to be done here
Verse 2
You’re the Lord of Creation
The Creator of all things
You’re the King above all Kings
You are
You’re the strength in our weakness
You’re the love to the broken
You’re the joy in the sadness
You are
Bridge
Chorus 2
Greater things have yet to come
Greater things are still to be done
In this city
Where glory shines from hearts alive
With praise for you and love for you
In this city
Greater things have yet to come
Greater things are still to be done
In this city
Greater things have yet to come
And greater things have still to be done here
