In search of a good cheap meal after work, I made my way over to New Sun BBQ at Midland and McNicoll. They have delicious Chinese BBQ and great prices.
For only CDN$5.00, I got a generous serving of Roast Pork with Rice, Vegetables, and a simple but tasty Soup. It was definitely delicious! You cannot get a better value meal than this, but if you do, please let me know!

March will be here next week...I am trying to be hopeful..Screw that in like a Lion..out like a Lamb thing..I want Spring..and now..Signs of it are sort of here..squirrels are hopping limbs..a few birds came by today...looking a bit less rotund than usual...they are getting hungry and probably way more sick of Winter than I am (although that seems doubtful)...So I am holding out hope damn it...What the hell am I going to bitch about when Spring does come??

I bought these bike shoes in 1985 for about $70, from a bike store went out of business a long time ago. They have been possibly the best buy I have ever made, having given me thousands and thousands of comfortable bike rides (they have a steel plate in the sole to protect the foot).
A few years ago, I heard Guy Clark's "Stuff That Works" and immediately thought about my faithful bike shoes:

A couple weeks ago I was looking on Craigslist (as I do often) and came across a post for a furniture blow-out sale. I called and the young women told me her and her dad had a warehouse full of furniture to sell. They have a contract with Marriott to collect furniture when they renovate. I told her I'd come check it out but with finals I was too busy.
Today I finally made it over there and she wasn't kidding! They actually have two warehouses full of furniture. There were tables, chairs, couches, nightstands, giant mirrors, artwork, lamps, patio furniture, and even some stackable washer/dryer units. These were pretty good pieces of furniture so I was expecting some higher prices. I heard another women ask the cost of the mirrors and she said $40 for the large and $20 for the medium. Now when I say large I'm talkin 57" x 42". It was huge and for just $40? Then I heard another lady ask how much the King and Queen headboards were and the young woman said $25. The women asking started to walk away and then stopped and said, "Did you just say $25 dollars for the headboards?" Yep. $25 dollars. I ran to the back where the headboards were and saw that there were only four Queens left. As I was passing the headboards I saw bar stools, like 50 of them. I've been looking for decent bar stools for a looong time but they are either too flimsy, too ugly or way too expensive (like $60 to $100 per stool). I went back and asked how much for the bar stools and she said $25 each. At that point I hurried up because I got scared that she'd gone crazy and would come to her senses any minute. I quickly drove home, grabbed some cash and went back.
When I got back I asked the young woman if she still had any Queen headboards and she looked at me like I was too late. We walked in a bit further and she said, "Oh yes, we have one left." Yesssssss! She quickly put a sold sign on it while I grabbed three bar stools. The headboard has some dents and dings but it's ok because I plan on painting it black to match the rest of my bedroom decor. I'll post an update with pictures when I complete that project. I figured I couldn't go wrong with painting it because if it looks bad, I only spent $25 for it. The bar stools fit nicely under my kitchen bar and now we have another place we can eat dinner just to mix it up some nights.
So just to recap....I got this nice Queen headboard, and three bar stools for $100. I know. It's hard to believe but it's true. SCORE!
P.S. Out of curiosity, on my way out I asked how much the couches were and she said $50 -$100. These are sofa sleepers and in really good condition. Also the stackable washer/dryers are $250. She also said they would probably be getting more items in March.
