…… His & Hers - can you guess which? We will miss our daily Coffee trips / walks we have been having on holiday, this was a hot favourite for sure! The Loft at Coverack - and the warm Croissants were fabulous as well as the Coffee! Sitting here and watching the working harbour comings & goings whilst sipping & savouring was an enjoyable holiday highlight. Taken on my phone in Apple RAW & edited in Lightroom. Have a great W/End, Alan:-)

Dear flickr diary. I don't use flickr in the same way anymore, but spending time with Mr V may have blown some cobwebs away.
Inside il Vino Fore Street Hertford.
In the toilet is an amazing picture of Venice, not your normal tourist shot but a little side alley under a bridge showing the classic washing in the street. It's worth visiting just for that and I love the coffee too.
For the record I did not want to include any of the customers faces because it was time to enjoy a coffee not some photographer taking their picture.
Bronica SQAi, Zenzanon-S 80mm/f2.8, 220 Kodak Portra 160VC (expired Nov05)
Thanks to Rob (burntfilm) for the film and to ziz for sharing it out ... Rob, I still owe you a few drinks ...
Gumbo. Somehow gumbo comes to mind when I think of how Detroit will be revitalized. Over 100 years ago the city was a gumbo mix of tinkerers and inventors. These men worked throughout the city in small shops dedicated to making a variety of goods- horse carriages, stoves, etc. Through a series of coincidences that can’t quite be explained, several of these tinkerers turned their attention to the horseless carriage. Why Detroit and not some other city is anyone’s guess. The automobile and its hundreds and hundreds of parts proved to be like some type of base- metal catnip for these garage based inventors. In time, the gumbo coalesced into a massive machine with one single beating heart. This mighty heart was a site to see as hundreds of thousands of immigrants flowed into the city. Then one day this heart started to give out. The folks that had come to depend on the machine were cast adrift. What do they do now?
Gumbo. The future is not in some new machine to replace the dying machine; rather it is in the source of the old machine. The city needs to find a way to welcome and encourage the modern day tinkerers and inventors. Creating a vibrant culture of risk taking and commerce, a rich and thick stew of commercial activity. Instead of desperately trying to lure a Wal- Mart into the city, maybe the city should make it easy for the next Sam Walton to emerge from its midst. This little block in the Cass Corridor is an encouraging sign of gumbo returning south of 8 Mile.
…Other places to eat are available in Padstow! Renowned for it’s eateries and in particular one very famous chief - Rick Stein, however Padstow boasts a wide choice and the Cherry Tree Cafe, bijou and is perfectly placed on the harbour front, staff, service & food are impeccable (unless you are a bird then VERY peckable!!) This was a lunch time snack & the sweets are to die for!! (see link) www.cherrytreescornwall.co.uk/home-1.html ……

A painting for sale in our local Brad & Dills coffee shop. The artwork is a lovely as the coffee. I also enjoyed the brickwork behind, that to me added to the artwork.
Have to do a quick stop at my favorite coffee place @beneluxcoffee. They have a newer location in Cameron village. I forgot to eat breakfast! I just grabbed a pastry today but love love love their wafels. Fun fact: the mural in this picture is made of coffee beans. It’s took one of the owners 4 months to hand make it. He even roasted the beans himself to get the different colors. All his work paid off b/c the mural is in the Guinness book of world records for “largest coffee bean mosaic”. Very cool. This new cafe on Endell street caused quite a stir when it opened - but what a marketing ploy !
The cafe is on 61 Endell Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9AJ
cck@coffeecakeandkink.com
Open 11 - 8 Monday - Thursday
Open 11 - 11 Friday and saturday
Open Sunday 11 - 6
The coffee was excellent at this place. The guy running it is Australian so there's a real Melbourne-ish feel to the way they do things - especially the coffee. Their coffee is roasted in Aus and they have a bunch of single origins on offer too.
Recently featured in Monocle magazine, this place packs in the expat crowd, especially at weekend brunch times.
Situated at Buiksloterweg 5d, Amsterdam.
I wonder how much they charge for filling up the Illy coffee cup on the right hand side of this image !
Great place for food to go - for those who can read/understand the Dutch language :

To make good coffee you need not only good coffee but a great machine to brew it in. I understand the La Marzocco from Florence Italy is one of the best. They brew Pilot Coffee from Toronto at Red Door Provisions, which is absolutely top drawer.
I did a "practice shooting" for a shop owner who recently moved his store from where I live to the next little town. I immediately liked his new location when entering his shop for the first time and seeing the late afternoon sun falling through the large panoview windows. So out of a sudden mood I offered to shoot some pictures for him in order to use for his marketing and local paper ads. This is the one I'm proudest of, as it has what I like best about photographing static objects: Lots and lots of bokeh... Hope, you'll like it, too. (Would love to see this in a lifestyle magazine or s.th. - aw well, I'm getting carried away)
B.t.w.: The shop is a wine store and they also sell italian edibles and food of all kinds, antipasti, coffee, snacks...
Do you remember the cafe La Poesía, that magic night in San Telmo? Buenos Aires devised our meeting, so romantic and sweet, Lulú
Horacio Ferrer (from the song, Lulú)
a magic place, it's even in a song. i knew none of this when i went there but there was just such a beautiful feeling there.
read it's history in this article
i blogged about another photo taken here at agrippina maior: that indefinable something

Meetings today from 8:30 - 2:00 then off to the airport back home. The first meeting was at a place called St Ali . A bit too cool for this unhip dude, but they made awesome coffee. I got there 30 mins earlier for my meeting to inhale some toast and take some shots. My colleague Ryan was early as well, so I didn't want to up and leave him to take some shots, so I took a couple from where I sat.
I got in home and said hello's and started to chill out, when I realised, haven't processed and posted the last 3 days of shots, and even whether the cafe shots turned out (therefore another shot required). I was way tired and didn't process the above shot in the end the way I wanted, including the image not symmetrical, but that's the way it will be posted.
