Last June we went to Vancouver Island to visit friends. In the morning before departing to Vancouver we went for a short hike at the Englishman River Regional Park. There is a neat waterfall that falls between two big rocks.
I processed a balanced and a paintery HDR photo from a RAW exposure, blended them, carefully adjusted the color balance and curves, desaturated the image, and added some vignetting. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

It's not my intention to compare colour and black and white. The B&W version was meant to fit in my monochrome album "Huangshan Mountain". Although the colours are somewhat demure they have some added value. It may be attractive enough to show this one as well.
Only for a brief moment a well shaped curve in the proceeding stream of clouds was visible and because of that, the diagonal presence of this mountain, creating coherence and abstraction in the scene.

Decided to post something without color for a change. I have always liked shots of flowing water and thought the different levels below this old dam might add some interest..... As always comments and suggestions are appreciated!

Hi All, I wondered if I could ask your input on my submissions for a local photography contest. I have narrowed my choices down to 5 possibilities, but can only submit 3. I feel like I am losing my objectivity (if I ever had any!) and am very indecisive as to the strongest submissions. What is your initial reaction to them? Which three would you choose? Finally, is there anything glaring about any of the edits/compositions that you might change to improve them?

this was on the way to the john mayer concert i went to on sunday night, as you can tell by the last picture :D
i've listened to john mayer at least since i lived back in jacksonville... so i was about 4 or 5. most of my life, i'd say. he's such an inspiration. one of my biggest.
the concert was amazing. he is so incredible, words can't even describe. his music honestly manages to trigger my every emotion when i listen to it, it's just so beautiful.
ha, it was really cool, this kid austin had a sign saying "can i play belief with you?" and john mayer pulled him on stage and he got to play the whole song (which he practiced for 2 years) with him.. and at the end, john was like "alright that's your guitar now" and let him keep it. he's so great. :D
not to mention the opening act, michael franti & spearhead, were fantastic.. i recommend listening to them as well, they make me happy :D
