Just realized how beautifully Velvia converts to B&W.
Alabama Hills is famous for a number Hollywood movie and television scenes including Gunga Din, Gunsmoke, and the Lone Ranger series.

Seems to be quite underrated as a tourist stop, but if you are in the June Lake area or driving up from Death Valley, it's definitely worth a visit -- especially if you have a proper SUV or Jeep with high clearance, so you can go offroad. You can definitely test out your wheels here! :-)

Fuji Velvia 100. Was mostly mono anyway so I decided to just cut the chroma altogether.
This beach is totally off the tourist maps, and remains in my mind one of the most stark, windswept, and desolate beaches I have encountered. It's the same beach as shown in my other photo:

Kodak Retina IIIC (ca. 1959, type 029) with f2 50mm Schneider-Kreuznach Xenon lens, Portra 400. Insanely great little camera... Zoom in and look at the people! Razor sharp, and that's just the 4k downsized version of this negative.
My 50mm Nikkor f1.8 prime does no better, and weighs probably 20 times more and is perhaps 20 times larger in volume too. In fact it must be said, the entire Retina IIIC is no more than twice the volume of the Nikkor lens alone, if that. I can comfortably stick the whole camera in my trouser pocket.
The Schneider Xenon lens even has meaningful DoF markings and an f22 stop (modern Nikkor primes only go to f16).

Taken from a hotel room at the Park Hyatt Sydney looking down.
There is a veritable parade of 'just marrieds' getting photos professionally taken here because in the background directly behind this couple is a spectacular view of the Sydney Opera House across the harbour. I've even seen a short queue of couples and their photographers waiting for this spot, each patiently waiting for their turn.
This spot was no more than 15 meters from our room's balcony. If the couple in question sees this and contacts me I would be delighted to send them a high resolution full color image.
