A bitterly cold day out on the Cheshire tundra today #grassupthemiddle

drinking hot chocolate from a flask and shivering, quite the contrast from yesterday ! #surlyghostgrappler #muddylaneconnoisseur #grassupthemiddle

never stop looking and wondering where that goes, a view of Rivington Pike from Stretford Meadows ! #grassupthemiddle

I’ve been riding around this place for almost fifty years now…… and today I found this ! back tomorrow with a suitable bicycle #grassupthemiddle

four seasons in less than an hour on todays ride, bright warm sunshine swiftly followed by monsoon rain followed by blue skies followed by cold wind etc etc …. #grassupthemiddle

another splendid day on the Cheshire tundra, a bit of sunshine always lifts the mood #grassupthemiddle

First ride done now the jet lag is subsiding, twenty miles was plenty to start with, plus new to me trails and country roads is always good along with some #grassupthemiddle

there are a few signs of spring appearing around the woods #grassupthemiddle

coming through this bridge to be hit by a wall of wild garlic perfume was a sensory overload #grassupthemiddle

one of the good things about an early start, quiet roads and gentle reminders #surlyghostgrappler #grassupthemiddle

Today was a good day, longest ride in the last two years, felt significant ticking over a metric century at long last, had all the weather except snow, seemed to be headwinds all the way round and had to buy an emergency bottle of Lucazade (which by the way tastes very different to how I remember it tasting) which just about got me over the line 😊 #grassupthemiddle

Even the best bikes in the world can’t inspire me when every grinding pedal stroke costs a penny in parts, still coffee was had and another epic seven miles were conquered #singularperegrinemk3 #randonneurbike #grassupthemiddle #muddylaneconnoisseur #wizardworks

NBD 😊

not really, just a frame swap from a Midnight Special to a Gorilla Monsoon

Many thanks to Shona and Rich @keep_pedalling for the respray and rebuild, top notch job as always

Now I just need this virus to bog off and I’ll be able to ride it for more than half an hour #grassupthemiddle #gorillamonsoonbike #allcitygorillamonsoon

whilst out escaping from the world I found a lovely and new to me trail that was only a few minutes long but saved the day #grassupthemiddle #surlyghostgrappler #towpathcrusher

Always grateful for the usual #grassupthemiddle

you can’t see it or smell it but this summer rain is delicious, cooling and perfumed, especially nice sitting under a canopy of leaves at their peak and no one within earshot to spoil it #surlyghostgrappler #grassupthemiddle #wizardworks

first bench book of 23, no rain, warm sunshine, hot chocolate, sausage roll, 26 miles #grassupthemiddle #randonneurbike #surlyghostgrappler #muddylaneconnoisseur

Achievement unlocked, bikes on boats, mini epic dirt and singletrack ride today, started in the rain, ended in the sunshine ……longest ride of the year for me, just over forty miles, and only a few of those on roads, found some fabulous nettle lined singletrack and even a short ferry ride, tired and weary but very happy to have done that #grassupthemiddle #singularperegrinemk3 #betablockerssuck

Tonight’s chippy run returned in spectacular fashion, beautiful sunset and the local singletrack through the woods was in spectacular form, too good to stop for photos #grassupthemiddle

a blue sky day, warm and windless air, dry green trails, 25 miles and two delicious pints from @farmyardbrewco, its been worth the wait #grassupthemiddle

the end of the solstice day and we did a chippy run, perfect conditions for an evening ride for chips and beer #grassupthemiddle

We started off looking for some Grassupthemiddle but settled for sunshine and blue skies along the coast instead, ham salad butties (with salad cream) and a strong cup of tea topped the day off nicely

It’s almost five years old now, a pre production Peregrine, not much changed for the production version (a slightly taller headtube, more tyre clearance and flat mount for the fork) and this build is the same as it was first built apart from a switch to some swept back Ramble bars to suit my ageing arthritic neck, its firmly now my house on fire bike, always my first choice

The next generation of Peregrines are almost fledged and ready to fly, minor changes and now British racing green instead of the classic Singular blue, I might have to get one just so I can leave this one with its mudguards intact !

The question is, does it get silver or black components ?

Merry Christmas ya filthy animals ! wishing all the best for you and your kinfolk from the Grassupthemiddle gang, here’s to another fabulous year of many dirty and dusty rides and weather, lots of weather

Remember to hug your homies, and that’s not just for Christmas

Always grateful for the usual #grassupthemiddle

its funny that I often forget that where I live is really rather nice at times, day dreaming about beautiful lands far away can divert your attention from whats right in front of you #grassupthemiddle #singularperegrinemk3

A splendid ride out across the Cheshire Tundra this morning, starting with coffee @riverbankcoffee and then twenty odd cold and crisp miles #grassupthemiddle #surlybigdummy

theres about 150 miles on this bike now, 10 rides around my local trails, flat wet and muddy

my position seems to be more or less where it should be, the only major change being to a shorter 90mm stem, everything is as built, the numbers coming straight off the steel Mk3 Peregrine

Ride wise its pretty similiar to the steel version, actually a bit lighter despite the bigger frame, the steel mid trail fork feels just right with a bag upfront, will be interesting to see how it fares with some small panniers installed on an upcoming tour

the build as always with Singulars was straightforward, tried and trusted components complimented by a new set of growtac brakes (which by the way feel as good if not better than Pauls Klampers) plenty of room for 55mm tyres and mudguards, boost and bolt through Hope hubs and the ever faithful gravel kings

For all you tall lanky folks this is worth your consideration, theres no reason this couldnt be painted the same as the steel Peregrine, only the lack of lugs would give the game away 😉

I think this ones a keeper thanks Sam

last summer I got rid of my car, I couldn’t justify owning it any longer so I now only ever ride local trails from the front door of either home (or the caravan we have the use of) and sometimes I get bored

but then I see my favourite tree (which is literally about 100 yards from a dual carriageway) and remember how privileged I am to be able to do this, this small insignificant tree never fails to draw my eye, it’s usually backlit by the sun and occasionally surrounded by dog shit in bags (which is quite baffling)

so there you are, this morning’s ride was a good reminder to be grateful for every day #thinkglobalactlocal #grassupthemiddle

Epic ride this morning, a whole ten miles in near perfect conditions, a major step up from the five or six mile rides of late #everyrideisepic #grassupthemiddle #allcitygorillamonsoon
