Карантинный холм — старейший район Феодосии, на котором располагался средневековый город Кафа. Поныне там можно увидеть остатки феодосийской Генуэзской крепости и несколько древних храмов. Крепость была построена итальянцами в 1340—1343 на площади 5,5 км². Она состояла из цитадели и внешней линии обороны. Сохранились четыре башни: башня Св. Климента, башня Кристо (Криско), башня Джованни ди Скаффа, а также Доковая башня на берегу моря.
Храмы Карантинного холма:
1. Церковь Иверской иконы Божией Матери (бывшая армянская церковь Иоанна Предтечи) (1348 г.).
2. Армянская церковь Иоанна Богослова (XIV ст.).
3. Греческая церковь Святого Георгия (XIV ст.).
4. Греческая церковь Святого Димитрия (также известная как армянская церковь Святого Стефана) (1348 г.) с армянским фонтаном (1491 г.).
5. Греческая церковь Святых Феодора Тирона и Феодора Стратилата (XIV ст., ныне в руинах).
Karantin (Quarantine) Hill is the oldest part of the city of Theodosia/Feodosia (Crimea, Russia) and the site of the medieval town of Caffa. These days, you can see what’s left of the Genoese Fortress of Theodosia and several temples there. The fortress was built by Italians in 1340—1343 on an area of 5.5 km². It had a citadel and an outer fortification line. Four of its towers have withstood the test of time: Torre di San Clemente (St. Clemens Tower), Torre di Cristo (Christ Tower), Torre di Giovanni di Scaffa, as well as Torre di Darsena (Dock Tower) on the shoreline.
The temples within the fortress:
1. Church of the Iberian Icon of the Mother of God (previously known as the Armenian Church of Saint John the Baptist (1348).
2. Armenian Church of Saint John the Apostle (XIV).
3. Greek Church of Saint George (XIV).
4. Greek Church of Saint Dimitri (a.k.a. the Armenian Church of Saint Stephan) (1348) with an Armenian fountain (1491).
5. Greek Church of Saint Theodore Tiron and Saint Theodore Stratelates (XIV, now in ruins).

For this assignment I had to watch one of the following movies: Goodbye Lenin, Amelie, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind or Lost in Translation.
I chose Eternal Sunshine.. because that was the only movie that was new for me.

Saint Francis of Assisi (Italian: San Francesco d'Assisi), born Giovanni di Pietro di Bernardone, informally named as Francesco (1181/1182 – 3 October 1226),[2][5] was an Italian Roman Catholic friar, deacon and preacher. He founded the men's Order of Friars Minor, the women’s Order of Saint Clare, the Third Order of Saint Francis and the Custody of the Holy Land.[2] Francis is one of the most venerated religious figures in history.[2]
Pope Gregory IX canonized Francis on 16 July 1228. Along with Saint Catherine of Siena, he was designated Patron saint of Italy. He later became associated with patronage of animals and the natural environment, and it became customary for Catholic and Anglican churches to hold ceremonies blessing animals on his feast day of 4 October.[6]
In 1219, he went to Egypt in an attempt to convert the Sultan to put an end to the conflict of the Crusades.[7] By this point, the Franciscan Order had grown to such an extent that its primitive organizational structure was no longer sufficient. He returned to Italy to organize the Order. Once his community was authorized by the Pope, he withdrew increasingly from external affairs. Francis is also known for his love of the Eucharist.[8] In 1223, Francis arranged for the first Christmas live nativity scene.[9][10][11] According to Christian tradition, in 1224 he received the stigmata during the apparition of Seraphic angels in a religious ecstasy [9] making him the first recorded person in Christian history to bear the wounds of Christ's Passion.[12] He died during the evening hours of 3 October 1226, while listening to a reading he had requested of Psalm 142 (141).

Pencil , paper and the right feeling were the things needed to complete this drawing.
I used three types of pencils : H2 , HB , B5 all of them are noticeable in the different shadings.
The Paper that I used is light / rough white paper it really helped giving all the effects needed.
The size of the drawing is : - Length : 16,7 Inches (42,5 Cm ) - ; - Width 12 Inches (30,5 Cm )
The drawing was plasticized , I was afraid that time and contact with air would ruin it.
If requested this drawing can be acquired without any plastification.

This is just a preliminary sketch and rough shading of camel Claude, on A4 cartridge paper.
I'll make the camel a bit larger on the A3 sheet. Though, I am still not sure whether I should do the camel or the pansy. The fur on camels seems to go all over the place, parts are curly, some parts short and straight, and the hairs seem to go in all directions.
I am uploading this for my own records in case I stuff up the drawing on the A3 sheet for the assessment.
