Brühl's Terrace in Dresden.
Originally one of the old military fortifications of the 16th century, it stretches for about 500 metres on the south bank of the Elbe River between the Augustus and Carola bridges. From 1737, when its military importance had been lost, various civil buildings began to be built which, with changes and restructuring, have survived to this day as an important tourist attraction.
Today, the terrace houses the following buildings: the Saxon Assembly Hall (Ständehaus), the Academy of Graphic Arts, the Albertinum museum, the Prince's brother's palace, the Bastion of the Virgins and the Böttger (chemist), Rietschel (sculptor) and Semper (architect) Monuments.

We recently viewed an exhibit in the Fenimore Art Museum in Cooperstown NY.
Scott McKowen is a graphic arts illustrator designing, among other things, theater production posters.
He uses a scratchboard to literally scratch an image onto, then colors and prints it.
The exhibit we saw was of Shakespearean theater posters
This was the only one enclosed in glass, so some wonky reflections appeared.
The photographer (me) is both in and out of the mouth, and inside with me is a young fellow who was also in the room at the time, looking at a different poster.
I can't remember which play this was. Maybe The Tempest.
I liked his works a lot.
There's another photo of one in the first comment box.
Have a madly wonderful Sunday, all.

Shadow of humility
A path in the dark.
I don't know where they lead
Reflections.
Striving for heights,
I lose earthly comfort.
Shadow of humility.
Fates are fickle,
Fate is mysterious.
The world inhaled deeply
A faded leaf.

Thin branches
Erase the stars from the sky.
A strong wind again.
The shadows have gone blind.
Got caught in crossroads
Spider network.
Knots tie the space
Thoughts are sleepless.
Deprived of constancy
Life is like monsoons.

When I was driving for Lyft, I picked a gentleman up from this beautiful building. I've never seen the inside of it, but its exterior was captivating! Being a Graphic Arts Major years ago, this brought back some design classes I've taken. I'm tempted to wanna get back into it. I have more shots of this building to share down the road.

Tears of the soul,
falling on the palms,
they turn into pearls...
But how painful it is to wear
this precious necklace...

The eyelids are heavy.
A thought-find has burst in,
Tearing the veil of sleep.
The rivers are dry.
But the fishing boat
Again is full of poems.
Life has changed its channel.
Only dreams of the past.
Became a piece of art
Forgotten ferry.

Wanna Buy Me A Coffee?
From the Institute of Graphic Arts to the State Public Library, through the Museum of Contemporary Art, there are many occasions to stop and enjoy or learn. However, quite a few locals seem to take pleasure in simply wandering around. This purpose, naturally, takes us to an exceptional level, and it is that, as usually happens with other related passages, among the events that animate the Andador are the festivals, which in Oaxaca are not few. In short, the monumental character and the colorful dimension of the place frame all sorts of outdoor activities, each more satisfying and exciting.

The picturesque village of St. Paul de Vence is known first and foremost for its art, in particular its collections of modernist art. It is why I traveled across the globe to come here.
The famous museum of modernist art in St. Paul de Vence is shown here, in part. The architecture and even the exterior grounds of this museum all speak to the famous modernist painters and sculptors. Think Kandinsky, Miro, Calder, Chagall, Giacometti, etc.
This extraordinary museum owns one of the largest collections in Europe of paintings, sculptures, drawings and graphic arts of the 20th century and includes an amazingly landscaped outdoor sculpture garden.

An X-Acto knife, a very versatile craft and hobby knife that is very dangerous if not used carefully.
A typometer is a ruler which is usually divided in typographic points or ciceros on one of its sides and in centimeters or millimeters on the other, which was traditionally used in the graphic arts to inspect the measures of typographic materials. The most developed typometers could also measure the type size of a particular typeface, the leading of a text, the width of paragraph rules and other features of a printed text. This way, designers could study and reproduce the layout of a document.
One of the domains where the typometer was most widely used was the editorial offices of newspapers and magazines, where it was used along with other tools such as tracing paper and linen testers to define the layout of the pages of the publications, until the 1980s.
Typometers were initially made of wood or metal (in later times, of transparent plastic or acetate), and were produced in diverse shapes and sizes. Some of them presented several scales that were used to measure the properties of the text. Each scale corresponded with a type size or with a leading unit, if line blocks were divided by blank spaces. However, typometers could not be used to measure certain computer-generated type sizes, that could be set in fractions of points.
Due to the technological advancements in desktop publishing, that allow for a greater precision when setting the type size of texts, typometers have disappeared from most graphic design related professions. It keeps being used, even today, by traditional printers who still employ type metal. Source Wikipedia.

An old nuArc carbon-arc lamp for graphic arts use, such as screen printing and lithography. Before xenon and metal halide arc lamps were adopted for the purpose, the carbon arc was used not only for its brightness, but also because it was a good source of ultraviolet light needed for the exposure process.
Yes, this lamp still works, but it is now but a crazy curiosity piece acquired long ago for the heck of it. I suspect its former owner did not use it that much because it had to be used in a well-ventilated area.
