Designed by Tom Purvis 1930. It seems that all of the pictorial modernism designs used san serif letterforms, tightly set. And there is great consideration for the four outside edges of the composition.
This is my high school senior t-shirt design which I submitted but sadly was not chosen. The mascot of my high school is seagull and I was in Class of 2009. As you can see, I combined these two ideas into one. The topmost yellow symbol-stream in the background spells "Staten Island Tech", the name of my school. The meaning behind this design is that the graduating class will be like a strong seagull, gliding up toward a bright future.
T-Shirt Design by Thurgood Marshal High School Students
Students were asked to design a t-shirt that was inspired by the word "highway". "Highway" was chosen as the subject of their design since this major cityscape feature is visible from the windows of their classroom. Each student designed their t-shirt using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. When they were finished, the designs were printed directly onto the shirts and heat set. The printing of the shirts was made possible by a generous donation of services by Mr. Willis.
Students at Thurgood Marshal found this project to be rewarding, as they proudly wore their shirts around campus for several days after the completion of the project. This has prompted many of the other students around campus to take an interest in industrial arts, as well as the creative arts.

Pankhurst's booklet has been hardback bound to further reflect the traditional book design. Purple has been used for the cover as the WSPU colours were purple, white and green. I had another copy made in green which features in some of the photos.
