I wonder why it turns into a silver color when shooting.

I always think that way.

I wondered if this little toad had a fungus so I asked Laura Papp, Education Specialist at First Landing State Park about it. She said the majority of the soil profile at First Landing is sand so it wouldn't be unusual to see the moist skin of an amphibian pick up some granules as they move through the landscape.

If you look closely you can see where sand has dropped behind itself as it moved forward. It may have just emerged from its hiding spot, they typically come out at night so I was lucky to spot it.

Thank you for visiting my photostream and taking the time to fav and comment!

An attractive cluster of young Glistening Inkcaps (Coprinellus micaceus) framed by the leaves of English ivy (Hedera helix) and common blackberry (Rubus fruticosus).

Glistening Inkcaps are very common fungi throughout the world and when young, covered with fine white granules (mica) as seen clearly here. Mica is sparkling in bright light, a hard to come about feature in the darkness of the beech wood where this image was taken. Glistening Inkcaps are considered edible but hardly worth an effort. Plastic granulate is the typical form of delivery of thermoplastic materials from the raw material manufacturers for the plastics processing industry. Because of its free-flowing properties, it is a bulk material such as sand or gravel and therefore just as easy to transport as it is. (Wikipedia)

Thank you for your nice comments and the numerous Favs, which I am very happy about.

I know it is not a complicated shot. We just don't have a lot of extra cool condiments laying around right now.

Happy Macro Mondays

Cabbage Soup – Soupe au chou

1-1/2 pounds ground beef, browned and drained

1 medium head cabbage, quartered and sliced

1 cup chopped onion

4 cloves garlic, crushed

8 cups water

1 teaspoon beef bouillon granules

1/2 tablespoon salt

2 teaspoons pepper

2 tablespoons brown sugar

2 tablespoons apple vinegar

1 cup carrots, diced

2 cups potatoes, diced

1 jar (15 ounces each) pasta/tomato sauce

Sauté the ground meat with onions. Add garlic and sauté a few minutes longer.

Drain if necessary.

In a stockpot, add water, bouillon, tomato sauce, beef, carrots and potatoes, salt, pepper, brown sugar and vinegar.

Bring to a boil. Add cabbage; reduce heat and simmer until vegetables are done and flavors have blended – about 40 minutes.

Yields about 5 quarts. Freezes well.

Very distinctive when seen well with its brightly coloured plumage. The underparts are a bright orange-red, while the wings and back of the head are dark blue. The back, rump and tail are a bright, almost "electric" blue and usually draw attention to a flying bird.

The production of intense blue presents challenges to nature. Most vertebrates are unable to produce blue pigment. The orange of kingfisher plumage is the product of tiny pigment granules but its cyan and blue feathers contain no pigments. These colours are ‘structural’. They are created by the intricate structural arrangement of a transparent material which, depending on its precise make-up and thickness compared to the tiny wavelength of light, produces a range of colours by ‘incident light’ – in other words light shining on the sample.

Despite these bright colours, can be easily overlooked perched motionless on a branch beside a stream or river on the look-out for fish. During the breeding season, females have a small red patch at the base of the bill, which is not shown by adult males.

Heliconius (longwing) butterflies) hang all over these sparse, Cheetos-orange blossoms. To understand the attraction, it helps to know that Heliconius butterflies have an unusual ability. They can digest pollen and use the proteins. All adult butterflies get food with a proboscis – a straw-like tube that can only drink liquids. But the Heliconius butterflies produce a fluid that can dissolve the protein in pollen granules and turn it into liquid form. They essentially use their saliva to turn pollen into a nutritious protein drink. Psiguria co-evolved with the Heliconius to meet the butterfly’s pollen needs, while the butterfly meets the plant’s pollination needs.

Since the Middle Ages, men in the Netherlands have celebrated the birth of a child. However, at that time it was not at all certain that a mother and child would survive the birth, partly due to the lack of medical knowledge at the time. Once a birth had gone well, men would therefore share something tasty and sweet to celebrate. The mother was also given something tasty.

From the eighteenth century, men started using sugared aniseed here. The appearance of the aniseed to the aforementioned mice. The white ball of leek on the body of the animal, while the protruding stalk represented the tail. Another explanation for the description is that the mouse is seen as a sign of fertility due to its fast reproductive cycle.

Pink mice were used for the birth of a girl and white mice for the birth of a boy. From 1994 this changed to blue girls, before that they were not produced yet.

In autumn the vegetation which is preparing for the cold period, due to the effect of photosynthesis, brings the chlorophyll granules back to the roots, thus causing the leaves to fall from the branches and gradually change color. Among the Dolomites this phenomenon is very accentuated by the fact that there are different types of trees so as to observe a unique mix of colours. Here at Tonadico (TN) with the background of the Pale di San Martino already covered with snow from the first snow of the season.

Tafoni results from cavernous weathering, most common along coasts where salts aid in etching holes in rock. Here, at Pebble Beach, where the beach is composed of granules and pebbles instead of sand-sized grains, waves have splashed granules/pebbles into the tafoni.

CSX L15126 returns from the Specialty Granules quarry a few miles east with some loaded hoppers in tow. They will pause here to pick up outbound interchange traffic from MMID before returning west to Hagerstown. That old Dodge pickup on the right has probably seen Western Maryland traffic at this spot decades prior.

LOKMA (friedcake)

The lokma of Izmir is very famous… This dessert is prepared in the following way: The dough with yeast (Put a little tea sugar into the dough) is put in very hot oil. When the dough is taken out of the oil, put some sweet syrup on it. There are queues in front of every place where this dessert is well-prepared.

Answer to sevgili Rita'm : This info was from the internet. What they mean by ''tea sugar ''must really be the refined type of sugar as you said .And not in cube form (I mean lumps of sugar) but in tiny granule (grain) type I guess. So you put spoonfuls of it.

A sort of pink glitter granules.

These colorful mica caps always grow in close clusters like this, feeding off decaying wood that is often buried underground. When fresh, the honey-colored caps glisten from a coating of mica-like granules, though dew and rain quickly washes the "mica" away. Mica caps are edible and I enjoy eating them raw, though most mushroom field guides don't recommend eating uncooked mushrooms. They are related to ink cap mushrooms and don't last for long in the field before dissolving so collect and cook them up while nice and fresh.
