Outdoor handball game as seen on a day of heavy rain. This was in late afternoon, so there wasn't much light. The kids were all covered with wet and dried mud from feet to waist.
Matchbox type pinhole camera.

Rollei Vintage creative dev, 1+16, 24°C.
Some more prints from the summer, this time with better scan than the previous ones. Used an Epson v750, which is much better in handling the lower tonal range.
When printing I found the darker tones more appealing when working digitally, it just looks better on print - and the scanned prints here doesnt quite manage to do it as well. Anyway, they give an impression of how it is.
The use of chicken feathers in creating this is pure genius in my opinion

My Aunt Joanne Richardson's Grade 4 class photo.
She the 6th girl on the right top row.
This is the only class photo I scanned which has the grade written on the back. The rest are a complete mystery.
Every school photo of me from junior kindergarten to grade 12.
From the ages of 4 years old to 17 years old.
I've wanted to do this for awhile, and then earlier today, by coincidence, I saw something exactly like this on Flickr by someone else (except in color).
My apologies for the awful quality of my middle/high school photos, they had to be scanned right out of my yearbooks. I never ordered photos in grade nine or eleven, so I had to do that. And I couldn't find my grade ten ones.
Note: I only got glasses during the winter of 2007, so only my grade 12 photo has me with glasses on. I used Adobe PhotoShop for turning the scanned photos into black and white to match the yearbook photos already black and white, and I used InDesign to put them together.
The number of tags is a record for me. I won't ever put that many again. But then again, I can only add 75, as I found out when I added them.

I kind of went through that kind of reflection while scanning these, especially my yearbook photos. Indeed, that face will never be the same.

The last of last week's pictures from Crown Point in the Columbia Gorge. This was taken with my 760mm SK Grimes lens fitted with a red # 25 filter on 8x10 Ilford FP4+.
Since I had two negs to process, I tried two different methods to get the sky to print easily next to the shaded foreground. The first method was to try divided D23: 4 minutes in the developer and 3 minutes in the alkalie bath. The negative came out splotchy, and completely unusable. Since one was ruined, I had to try something more fool-proof. I used Kodak HC110 and semi-stand development. This seems to largely have done the trick. The sky requires a little burning in, but not much. This is not the final print, however. It's the first proof. More work will be done later to make it sing. I scanned it in and presented it here uncorrected.
Camera: Deardorff 8x10.
Lens: 760mm SK Grimes with red # 25 filter.
Film: Ilford FP4+ developed in Kodak HC110 semi-stand at 22:15 minutes.
Printed on Arista Grade 4 RC developed in Kodak Dektol 1:2.

BC's Grade 4 students are among the world's top readers at their grade level and had the highest average score in Canada, according to an international report.
Education Minister Don McRae visited grades 4 and 5 students at Margaret Jenkins Elementary in Victoria -one of the schools that participated in the study.

I'm spending this week marking the British Columbia FSA tests for our School District. The tests are in Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic for grades 4 and 7.
