Lower Antelope Canyon also known as slot canyons, is located just east of Page Arizona, and is a must visit for anyone serious about fascinating color and shape in nature. Photographers flock there every day to pay the fee and get the guided tour. Yes there is a cost involved to go into both upper and lower canyons. The Navajo tribe owns the rights to the area and monitor it closely to both preserve this natural treasure and to provide employment for tribe. My Images are all from the 'lower canyon'

Despite these limitations, Lower Antelope Canyon draws a considerable number of photographers, though casual sightseers are much less common there than in the Upper canyon. Specific photographer-only tours are available for booking around midday, when the beam of light is at its peak. Photographers are required to bring a tripod to participate.

One of the many unique sights in the Red Rock Secret Mountain Wilderness is a series of natural pools, reached by way of an easy hike from Soldier Pass Road and Trail. Seven Sacred Pools - Sedona, ArizonaThe Seven Sacred Pools were naturally carved out of ocher colored sandstone and fed by a seasonal stream. In this transition zone between the Oak Creek Mountains and Sedona's arid desert land, the pools are a very important water source for the area's wide variety of wildlife.

Antelope Canyon is a slot canyon in the American Southwest. It is located on Navajo land east of Page, Arizona. Antelope Canyon includes two separate, photogenic slot canyon sections, referred to individually as Upper Antelope Canyon or The Crack; and Antelope Canyon or The Corkscrew.[2]

The Navajo name for Upper Antelope Canyon is Tsé bighánílíní, which means "the place where water runs through rocks." Lower Antelope Canyon is Hazdistazí (advertised as "Hasdestwazi" by the Navajo Parks and Recreation Department), or "spiral rock arches."

interesting sandstone forms in the lower Antelope Slot Canyon outside of Page Arizona, What do you see?

This is called a slot canyon, a narrow rift in the sandstone which can be 35' deep and at times almost too narrow to walk through. Other area's the canyon widens out to 20 ~30 feet. The sandstone swirls are formed by flooding water and wind currents over many many years. The Canyon featured is called "Lower Antelope Canyon" and Lower and Upper are both located just 5 miles east of Page Arizona

"Big Bend National Park has national significance as the largest protected area of Chihuahuan Desert topography and ecology in the United States. The park covers 1,251.8 square miles (3,242 km2). Few areas exceed the park's value for the protection and study of geologic and paleontologic resources. Cretaceous and Tertiary fossil organisms exist in variety and abundance. Archeologists have discovered artifacts estimated to be 9,000 years old, and historic buildings and landscapes offer graphic illustration of life along the international border in the 1800s." The name of Yellowstone National Park's "Mud Volcano" feature and the surrounding area is misleading; it consists of hot springs, mud pots and fumaroles, rather than a true mud volcano. Depending upon the precise definition of the term mud volcano, the Yellowstone formation could be considered a hydrothermal mud volcano cluster. The feature is much less active than in its first recorded description, although the area is quite dynamic. Yellowstone is an active geothermal area with a magma chamber near the surface, and active gases are chiefly steam, carbon dioxide, and hydrogen sulfide.[8]

The mud volcano in Yellowstone was previously a mound, until suddenly, it tore itself apart into the formation seen today.[9]

Brady enjoys a peaceful moment by the campfire at what we have termed Camp Eagle Rock. Can you feel the warmth of the fire?

It was a real pleasure seeing the three kids enjoy being outside in addition to the adults! Light provided by the fire and a propane lantern.
