I've been watching mum for a few weeks now on my evening owl trips. Although I have seen the youngsters I haven't had an opportunity for a decent shot until now.
Still no sign of the owls sadly, but we came across a hunting female nearer to home this morning.
Pics of the new lady barnie to follow.

Really impressed with the Canon R5's ability to focus and the large file size makes large crops possible.
Little Egret
≠=======================â‰
Poweful storms a few months back changed the mudflats along the shoreline. Most of the sand and seaweed was cleaned away leaving clear pools among the rocks.
Ideal for fish to gather in, and of course for an enterprinsing Egret to ply its talents.
So here I was Christmas morning - enjoying 70 (+20) degrees, catching sunlight on tiny insects and then just taking pictures of everything around the house. Nothing better found to do was taking a pic of my reflection in the window. And here he was - my amazing husband - setting the mood for a fantastic day to follow.
Have wonderful day everybody!
Smile!

This guy was very successful and caught several fish while i was there , the weather was terrible , windy and dull.
We went out on a boat trip whilst we were on holiday. The Farne Island, off the coastline near to where we were staying, are habitat to lots of birds, including puffins. We were not able to land because of Covid-19 but did sale around the islands. We were so delighted to see lots of puffins as the skipper of the boat had said that the 'bird' season there was all but over. This little one had a mouth full of sand eels. I was delighted to be able to get a shot of it, whilst bobbing up and down in a boat
Bald Eagles on Lake Potter enjoying the warm weather and good fishing.
Continued warmth is quickly depleting the eagle viewing as the birds began their migration north. Even had thunder, lightning and hail last night. baseball size hail just south of us!
Final post for a while. Took this on the last trip. Taken in the Namib desert and this is a wild Namib Chameleon catching a meal worm (I managed to get a few different shots of this and posted a very different one before). Fingers crossed for the Northern lights weather forecast is not looking to good! Adios amigos!
Just discovered this as I was cleaning up my computer....taken a few weeks ago at Brighton Beach just North of Brisbane. There is always something to discover in a true sense.

I hope that you all can visualize or try to see what goes on here in our wetlands. There are islands with many many species and nests of different species and sometimes it get just a little to crowded and one get to close to the others condos and sometimes an argument ensues ot some type of altercation, nothing ever comes of it usually and the worst thing is when a chick falls out oif the nest, then he's in trouble. But here the Egret was bouncing around feeling his oats when he came to close to the Anhinga nest, they started to nip at his feet and the Egret couldn't pull them up fast enough, this folks is why I shoot like a lunatic, many many deletes yes, but an awful lot of keepers, the story a little long but so hope you can see just what happens sometimes.Have a great weekend and that you so much for your patience and for stopping by.
I saw two unsuccessful attempts by this osprey in different areas of the lake. That lead me to think either cataracts or Alzheimers. However this grab yielded a nice reward.....so it is batting .333 , and that's not bad in the majors!!!

47th Annual Kona Stampede Rodeo March 22-24, 2011
During the many years we spent on the Big Island, we always managed to miss this rodeo for one reason or another. Then in 2011, after "bumping" into a very dear friend we hadn't seen in a long time, we found out she was going to be competing in the event, so we took in two days’ worth of great action!
A total of 250 contestants participated in events including: Wahine (women's) Calf Mugging, Keiki (kid's) Barrel Racing, Kane/Wahine (men's/women's) Ribbon Mugging, Double Mugging, Team Roping, Open Tie Down, Bull Riding, and more!
I photographed all of the events that our friend, Kainoa DeGuair and her family were in, as well as everything else on March 22 and 24th, 2011. What a blast to see the talent and skill of all these real-life Paniolos, carrying on this tradition from one generation to the next!
"The event derives from the duties of actual working cowboys, which often required catching and restraining calves for branding or medical treatment. Ranch hands took pride in the speed with which they could rope and tie calves which soon turned their work into informal contests." (Wikipedia)
Beware..... They stalk the night!
Happy Furry Friday! A little healing laughter to all our Flickr friends :-)
Still playing with candid portraits...decided to give a few the punch of b/w ......
I hope you guys like my decision to move to another facet .... I do.....
As anyone who uses Google on their computer knows, one of the Google services offered is Google Maps. Google Maps enables you to select an address or postcode and immediately the relevant map appears..... To the left is a zoom control with a "man" at the top.... If you click on him! and drag him to a location on the map the screen shows a navigable street view. Google manages this by sending camera fitted cars down every UK road to record the "Street View"
Here we see one of their cars updating our road........
A Bold Jumping Spider consuming its prey, a Sac Spider. This was risky business for the jumper because the Sac Spider was nearly as big and aggressive.
we are in the middle of a snow storm today,
but I'm taking a little break from winter anyway......;~)
