I just liked the bolshy pose here with the cow's head in the air. The sky also had alot of detail and a bit of colour to provide a nice backdrop. F6.3 and 18mm gives that nice wide angle feel. Always handheld for this type of shot as the animals are fact moving and a tripod would just slow the process down.

Pepita, our Nubian goat, is an excellent milker. Carmen makes the best goat cheese with herbs from her organic garden.

A lovely, sunny summer day in Northern Ireland. These 3 Holstein cows are enjoying the weather and some fresh grass. This sort of shot can never be planned. The animals are fast moving and you don;t have long to nail the focus or plan your composition. F 11 here helps to maintain depth of field when the cows get close to the lens.
"This week's theme was so much fun! I loved it! I really hope I can't survive the double elimination."

OK, so I read the group's rule where it stated "NO photos of cats, cows or any other animals!" So in protest... instead of campaigning for Milk... this is my take of what would happen if a lactose intolerate guy drinks 3 - 64fl oz of pure farm fresh milk and 3 pints of cream just to get the milk mustache right... I mean come on ... Oshin's my baby and no animal?!!
I wish the admin for Got Milk would change their policy / rule on no animal!
A speckled Hoolstein cow enjoying a bite of fresh grass on a fine summer evening in Northern Ireland. Her full pedigree name is Cavanagarvan Omen Jean. ISO 50 was a bit low perhaps as 1/30 of a second shutter speed left some motion blur in the nose. This girl could probably munch through around 100 kg of grass per day at this time of year...and produce about 25 litres of milk.

A herd of Holstein cows enjoying spring grass on a pleasant day near Chester, England.
This lady does not look impressed with having her picture taken. F4.5 and a focus on the eyes. Always difficult when sheds are quite dark and animals are fast moving. Handheld is all you can manage in this situation. A wonderful modern Holstein cow. A transponder around her neck transmits alot of data to the farmer - a bit like a fit bit. Any signs of illness can be acted upon quickly to ensure optimal animal welfare.

So there I was laying in a field minding my own bees wax when this big hairy beast came at me...even though I said no tongues....lol
Yup...I had to take my life in my hands and lay under this how now brown cow to get this shot...you can't beat living dangerously...:))))
Anyhoo, I am still sick and have come home from work early...about to go and have a Lemsip and a lay down....be back later hopefully..:)))

Mom seemed to cut her baby off when she stepped away while the fawn was nursing. The little one stood and licked her chops (notice the tongue) as mom got on with some foraging.
This is not the same mom and fawn as in my recent posting. This mother was so small and gave birth very early.
I love love love Oreo cookies. You can hardly find them over here. But while grocery shopping last weekend I found some and couldn't resist.
One package costs EUR 2,20 (~USD 3,50!!!). Phewwww!!! But it's good for keeping me from eating too much of them *lol*
Ich liebe Oreo Kekse. Man findet sie nur leider kaum bei uns. Aber beim Wochenendeinkauf hab ich welche entdeckt und konnte natürlich nicht widerstehen.
Eine Packung kostet allerdings unglaubliche EUR 2,20... Ganz schön teuer... Aber ist eh besser so, sonst würd ich viel zu viele davon essen ;-)
