A shot from my visit to London yesterday to meet my eldest for the day and then go on to see Suzanne Vega at the Royal Albert Hall. She was amazing as was the venue (my first time there). Just 1 or 2 guitars, a cello and her voice and yet so full a sound, just amazing!

My back is improving but still not great so didn't do a Macro Monday shot this week. Instead I'm posting an old shot from one of the many University visits I'm dong this year with my twins.
Another shot from a University visit, this time to University of Surrey, this building was on their campus. Still got quite a few to go including some long distance ones. It's been fun mostly, but I will be glad when they are all over.

One Poppy with selective Red petals on Mono background was balanced with another having a Green backdrop hosting a much paler Poppy to show the reds in mono as older and still some contemporary films do in varying circumstances. Reds have shown as too dark and too light on different film emulsions. Pre 1928 films would have too strong a response with near blackened lips except for what some refer to as, “The Green Trick.” To gain a more natural, and also an impassioned lip, then Green Lipstick, or colouring was your trick. If you applied Green, or Yellow tones of makeup then they would register as a balanced, more natural looking medium gray tone on the final screen, if you balanced the green and yellow to your film stock you could apply from serene spinster to strident siren via a touch of colours and a few screen tests under your lighting set up.
Panchromatic sensitivity of more modern film stock can render luscious lips as pale and even insipid. Under exposure and warm tungsten light can lead to glaring White lips. If you use the light and exposure to suit the scene and scenario then these warm and cold looks can work wonders for you. The only way to be creative is to know the film stock and to use lights that are familiar. In the age of digital editing everything can be resolved, eventually. Modern Panchromatic Monotone is better at registering all colours and Orthochromatic Monotone Films register Blue and Green and generally skew colours above 550 nanometres.
All the above to say that I lost the original one picture balancing the Red and Monotone selective colour so I made two new ones. The imbalance ever continues. I was inspired to add further indications of Green and Red balance. The lost Green backdrop image is found, but these are freshly Minted and spritely Rosed.
